Tips:

  • Use fresh fish. This will give your fish cakes the best flavor and texture.
  • Don't overcook the fish. Overcooked fish will be dry and tough.
  • Be careful not to overmix the fish mixture. Overmixing will make the fish cakes tough.
  • Form the fish cakes into patties that are about 2 inches in diameter and 1/2 inch thick. This will help them cook evenly.
  • Pan-fry the fish cakes over medium heat until they are golden brown on both sides. This will take about 3-4 minutes per side.
  • Serve the fish cakes immediately with your favorite sauce.

Old-fashioned fish cakes are a delicious and easy-to-make dish that is perfect for a weeknight meal. They are also a great way to use up leftover fish. With a few simple ingredients and a little bit of time, you can create a delicious and satisfying meal that the whole family will enjoy.
