Time 20m

Yield 4 serving(s)

Number Of Ingredients 9

1/2 lb ground beef
1 (26 ounce) jar pasta sauce
1 teaspoon kosher salt (or half as much table salt)
1 teaspoon sugar
2 tablespoons olive oil
2 cups water
1/2 lb angel hair pasta, broken into thirds
2 cups Baby Spinach or 2 cups chopped kale
freshly grated parmesan cheese

Steps:

  • In a large, heavy pot over medium heat, saute the beef until it is browning in places and no longer pink -3 or 4 minutes.
  • Add the sauce and cook, stirring, for a minute or two, then stir in the salt, sugar, olive oil, water, pasta, and greens.
  • Stir constantly until the mixture comes to a boil, then turn the heat down to low, cover the pot, and simmer gently - stirring frequently so that the bottom doesn't scorch -for 10 or so minutes, until the pasta is tender.
  • Serve with grated parmesan cheese.

Tips:

  • Use a large pot: This will prevent the pasta from sticking together and ensure that it cooks evenly.
  • Salt the water: Adding salt to the water helps to flavor the pasta and prevent it from becoming bland.
  • Cook the pasta according to the package directions: Different types of pasta have different cooking times, so it's important to follow the instructions on the package.
  • Drain the pasta well: Make sure to drain the pasta thoroughly before adding it to the sauce. This will help to prevent the sauce from becoming watery.
  • Use a flavorful sauce: The sauce is what really makes a one-dish spaghetti dish special. Choose a sauce that you love and that will complement the other ingredients in the dish.
  • Add some vegetables: Vegetables are a great way to add extra flavor and nutrition to your one-dish spaghetti. Try adding some chopped onions, peppers, mushrooms, or zucchini to your dish.
  • Don't forget the cheese: Cheese is the perfect finishing touch for any one-dish spaghetti dish. Sprinkle some Parmesan or grated mozzarella cheese over the top of your dish before serving.

Conclusion:

One-dish spaghetti is a quick, easy, and delicious meal that is perfect for busy weeknights. With a little planning, you can create a flavorful and satisfying dish that the whole family will love. So next time you're looking for a simple and satisfying meal, give one-dish spaghetti a try. You won't be disappointed!
