ONE PAN COBBLER

Delicious and simple. My mom gave me this recipe. I chose to make it with canned peaches. You can use the fruit of your choice, either canned or fresh. Serve it by itself or along with a scoop of vanilla ice cream.

Time 55m

Yield 1 9x12 cobbler

Number Of Ingredients 5

1/2 cup butter
1 cup self-rising flour
1 cup sugar
1 cup milk
3 cups sweetened fruit

Steps:

  • Melt butter in a shallow baking dish. I used a 9x12 Pyrex dish.
  • Mix flour, sugar, and milk in a separate bowl.
  • Pour this mixture over melted butter. Do Not Stir.
  • Spoon fruit of your choice, either fresh or canned, over batter. Again do not stir. (If using canned fruit, be sure to drain syrup).
  • Bake cobbler at 350 degree pre-heated oven for 30-45 minutes or until crust rises to the top and is lightly browned and liquid is bubbly.

Tips:

  • Choose the right pan: Use a pan that is oven-safe and large enough to accommodate the cobbler filling and crust. A 9x13 inch pan is a good size for most cobblers.
  • Use fresh or frozen fruit: Fresh fruit is best for cobblers, but frozen fruit can also be used. If using frozen fruit, thaw it completely before using.
  • Add a thickener: A thickener, such as cornstarch or flour, will help to thicken the cobbler filling. This will prevent the filling from being too runny.
  • Don't overmix the batter: Overmixing the batter will make the cobbler tough. Mix just until the ingredients are combined.
  • Bake the cobbler until the crust is golden brown and the filling is bubbling: This usually takes about 30-40 minutes.

Conclusion:

One-pan cobblers are a delicious and easy dessert that can be made with a variety of fruits. They are perfect for a weeknight dessert or a special occasion. With a few simple tips, you can make a cobbler that is sure to impress your friends and family.
