COTTAGE CHEESE JELLO FRUIT SALAD

Cottage Cheese Jello Fruit Salad image

TIP: If you like it more fruity, use less cool whip. If you like it more creamy, use more cool whip. Also, you can "holiday" it up or customize it just by changing flavors. For Christmas, use green jello and add cherries. For Halloween, use orange jello and add mandarin oranges, etc.

Dry Jell-O Salad (Jello) Cottage Cheese Fruit Salad image

I could eat the whole bowl by myself! This is a great recipe for those who don't like Jell-O since you use it dry and it gives a totally different texture than traditional Jell-O salads. Hint: if you use orange flavored Jell-O use mandarin oranges instead of pineapple.

Time 4h10m

Number Of Ingredients 6

4 cups water
6 oz Orange Jello Mix
3 ounce instant vanilla pudding
11 ounce can Mandarin oranges, drained
1/2 of a 20 ounce can of Pineapple chunks, drained
One 8 ounce container cool whip

Steps:

  • Mix together 4 cups of water, orange jello mix, and vanilla pudding mix in a sauce pan. Bring to a boil, stirring the whole time to keep clumps from forming. Once it starts to boil, remove from heat. Pour into a heat-resistant container (I usually use a glass baking dish), cover with plastic wrap and place in the fridge for about four hours. Remove from fridge and break up the jello into chunks. Place in a large bowl. Add in the pineapple, mandarin oranges, and whipped cream and mix around until everything is combined. Keep refrigerated until you are ready to serve.

Tips:

  • Use fresh fruit: Fresh fruit will give your jello salad the best flavor and texture. If you don't have fresh fruit on hand, you can use frozen or canned fruit, but be sure to thaw and drain it before using.
  • Choose the right jello flavor: The flavor of the jello you use will depend on your personal preference. Some popular flavors include orange, lime, lemon, and cherry.
  • Add some cottage cheese: Cottage cheese adds a creamy and protein-rich element to jello salad. It also helps to thicken the salad and make it more filling.
  • Don't over-whip the Cool Whip: Over-whipping the Cool Whip will make it too fluffy and light, which will make it difficult to mix with the other ingredients. Whip the Cool Whip until it is just stiff enough to hold its shape.
  • Chill the salad before serving: Jello salad should be chilled for at least 2 hours before serving. This will allow the flavors to meld and the salad to set properly.

Conclusion:

Orange jello salad with fruit, cottage cheese, and Cool Whip is a classic summer dessert that is easy to make and always a hit. With its refreshing flavor and creamy texture, this salad is sure to please everyone at your next party or potluck. So next time you're looking for a quick and easy dessert, give this recipe a try!
