Time 40m

Yield 25-30 waffles

Number Of Ingredients 6

1/2 liter milk
8 eggs, separated
250 g butter
150 g sugar
500 g flour
1 pinch salt

Steps:

  • Mix together flour, egg yolks, sugar, salt and the milk until you obtain a dough without lumps.
  • Add the melted butter and the whipped egg whites.
  • Bake in a hot waffle iron. You only need to grease it for the first waffle if you're using an non-stick waffle iron.
  • Serve hot with some powdered sugar on top.

Tips:

  • Use the right waffle maker: A Belgian waffle maker is essential for making authentic Belgian waffles. It has deeper grids than regular waffle makers, which allows the waffles to cook evenly and develop a crispy exterior.
  • Use fresh ingredients: Fresh, high-quality ingredients will make a big difference in the taste of your waffles. Use real butter, fresh eggs, and pure vanilla extract.
  • Don't overmix the batter: Overmixing the batter will make the waffles tough. Mix just until the ingredients are combined.
  • Let the batter rest: Letting the batter rest for a few minutes before cooking allows the gluten to relax, which will result in lighter, fluffier waffles.
  • Cook the waffles on medium heat: Cooking the waffles on medium heat will help them cook evenly and prevent them from burning.
  • Don't overcrowd the waffle maker: Overcrowding the waffle maker will prevent the waffles from cooking evenly.
  • Serve the waffles immediately: Belgian waffles are best served immediately after they are cooked. They can be served with a variety of toppings, such as butter, syrup, fruit, or whipped cream.

Conclusion:

Belgian waffles are a delicious and versatile breakfast or brunch dish. They can be served with a variety of toppings, making them a perfect option for any occasion. By following these tips, you can make perfect Belgian waffles at home.
