JARLSBERG OVEN-BAKED OMELETTE

Jarlsberg Oven-Baked Omelette image

Norway's Jarlsberg cheese, with its smooth, nutty flavor, pairs perfectly with leftover ham in this quick and easy oven-baked omelette. It tastes just as delicious with light Jarlsberg if you are interested in trimming the fat. And, when I make it, I use a combination of whole eggs and Egg Beaters to further cut calories.

OVEN BAKED OMELETTE

Oven Baked Omelette image

I made this breakfats dish last year for Chistmas morning. It is so easy that I could enjoy the gift-giving without being worried about burning my omlettes. After the holidyas I have found that there are lots of mornings that I have better things to do then cook 4 individual omlettes. Enjoy!

Number Of Ingredients 7

1/4 c butter
18 eggs
1 c milk
2 tsp salt
1 c sour cream
1/4 c green onions, chopped
1/3 c grated sharp cheddar cheese

Steps:

  • 1. Melt the butter in a 13 X 9 glass baking dish.
  • 2. In a large mixing bowl beat together the eggs, milk, salt and sour cream.
  • 3. Pour the mixture over the butter.
  • 4. Stir in the onions and top with cheese.
  • 5. Bake in a preheated oven at 350 for 35 minutes or until the eggs are set, but moist.

Tips:

  • Use a non-stick skillet or baking dish: This will prevent the omelette from sticking and make it easier to flip.
  • Preheat your oven to the desired temperature before cooking the omelette: This will help to ensure that the omelette cooks evenly.
  • Beat the eggs well before cooking: This will help to create a light and fluffy omelette.
  • Season the eggs with salt and pepper to taste: You can also add other seasonings, such as herbs, cheese, or vegetables, to taste.
  • Pour the egg mixture into the preheated skillet or baking dish and cook for a few minutes, until the bottom is set: Then, flip the omelette and cook for a few more minutes, until the other side is set.
  • Transfer the omelette to a plate and serve immediately: You can garnish the omelette with fresh herbs or vegetables, if desired.

Conclusion:

Oven-baked omelettes are a delicious and easy-to-make breakfast, lunch, or dinner option. They are also a great way to use up leftover vegetables or cheese. With a few simple ingredients and a little bit of time, you can create a delicious and satisfying omelette that the whole family will enjoy.
