Steps:
- 1. Preheat oven to 425 degrees F, with the cookie sheet in the oven to get it hot. Once hot: Take the cookie sheet out of the oven and brush on a thin coat of olive oil (not the 3 T).
- 2. In a bowl, coat the potatoes with 3 T olive oil, dried herbs and the steak seasoning or salt and pepper, and mix well.
- 3. Spread the potatoes to the corners of the cookie sheet and cook for about 25 minutes (*could be sooner or later - check them as they cook - See note in step 4), turning once halfway through cooking. Serve once they are nicely browned to your liking!
- 4. Note: I find that if my wedges are thin, a total of 20-25 minutes is enough. If the wedges are thicker, a total of around 40 minutes works better.
Tips:
- Choose the right cut of steak: For oven-baked steak fries, it's best to use a well-marbled cut of steak, such as ribeye, strip loin, or sirloin. These cuts will remain tender and juicy even after being cooked in the oven.
- Slice the steak against the grain: This will help to tenderize the steak and make it more flavorful.
- Marinate the steak: Marinating the steak in a flavorful mixture of olive oil, herbs, and spices will help to add flavor and keep the steak moist during cooking.
- Preheat the oven: Make sure the oven is fully preheated before cooking the steak fries. This will help to ensure that they cook evenly.
- Use a hot skillet: When searing the steak fries, use a hot skillet to create a nice crust. This will help to lock in the flavor and prevent the steak fries from drying out.
- Cook the steak fries in a single layer: Do not overcrowd the skillet when cooking the steak fries. This will prevent them from cooking evenly.
- Flip the steak fries halfway through cooking: This will help to ensure that they cook evenly on both sides.
- Season the steak fries: Once the steak fries are cooked, season them with salt, pepper, and any other desired seasonings.
- Serve the steak fries immediately: Oven-baked steak fries are best served immediately after cooking, while they are still hot and crispy.
Conclusion:
Oven-baked steak fries are a delicious and easy-to-make meal that can be enjoyed by people of all ages. By following the tips above, you can create perfect steak fries that are crispy on the outside and tender on the inside. Serve them with your favorite dipping sauce and enjoy!
