KIELBASA (SMOKED SAUSAGE) ROLL-UPS

Kielbasa (Smoked Sausage) Roll-Ups image

I can't remember where I got this recipe. I just know they're quick and easy and I make them often! Try different mustard blends and add caramelized onion for extra flavor! :-) HINT: Slice each kielbasa chunk into 2-4 discs and lay them down (like fallen dominoes) before rolling them into the crescent roll. Then it's not quite as big of a bite!

KIELBASA AND HONEY MUSTARD PINWHEELS

Kielbasa and Honey Mustard Pinwheels image

This is a unique spin (or spiral!) on pigs in a blanket, the classic appetizer that's perfect for any occasion. We've swapped in diced kielbasa for the usual hot dogs, and baked honey mustard into the swirls of puff pastry. The best part: You can assemble the three-ingredient apps ahead of time and then cook them off just before your guests arrive.

Time 1h5m

Yield 4 to 6 servings

Number Of Ingredients 4

1 sheet frozen puff pastry (half of a 17.3-ounce package), thawed
All-purpose flour, for dusting
1/3 cup honey mustard
8 ounces diced kielbasa (about 1 1/2 cups)

Steps:

  • Preheat the oven to 400 degrees F and line a rimmed baking sheet with parchment.
  • Unfold the puff pastry onto a lightly floured work surface. Using a rolling pin, gently roll the dough out to a 10-by-15-inch rectangle. With a small offset spatula, spread the honey mustard evenly over the dough, making sure to go all the way to the edges, then sprinkle the kielbasa pieces over the mustard.
  • Starting at a long side, roll the dough into a log as you would a jelly roll, then pinch the seam shut and place onto the prepared baking sheet, seam-side down. Refrigerate the log until slightly firm, at least 30 minutes; this will make it easier to cut it into rounds. (See Cook's Note)
  • Cut the chilled puff pastry log into 1/2-inch-wide slices (you should get 20 to 22 slices) and place the slices cut-side down onto the baking sheet. If needed, adjust the slice shape to form a circle. Bake until puffed and golden brown, about 18 minutes. Let cool 5 minutes before serving.

EASY KIELBASA SKILLET DINNER

Easy Kielbasa Skillet Dinner image

The house always smells awesome while this very tasty, filling meal is cooking. It makes kielbasa worth stocking up on when it goes on sale and uses basic/cheap ingredients overall. Vary the vegetables depending on what you have on hand. For example add/replace broccoli with a can of corn and/or peas, etc. If you like a little heat, sprinkle a little hot sauce on top after it's cooked. This should make about 4 servings, but it almost always turns out to be split into 2 large servings between the me and the boyfriend. We like to crisp up/brown the kielbasa slightly before adding the vegetables.

Tips:

  • For the best results, use fresh kielbasa. If you're using frozen kielbasa, be sure to thaw it completely before cooking.
  • To make the rolls ahead of time, assemble them and then freeze them. When you're ready to bake them, thaw them overnight in the refrigerator or at room temperature for a few hours.
  • If you don't have a baking sheet, you can use a large skillet instead. Just be sure to grease the skillet well so that the rolls don't stick.
  • Serve the rolls warm with your favorite dipping sauce.

Kielbasa rolls are a delicious and easy-to-make appetizer or snack. They're perfect for parties or potlucks, and they're always a hit with kids. With a few simple ingredients and a little bit of time, you can make these tasty rolls at home. So next time you're looking for a quick and easy recipe, give kielbasa rolls a try!
