Time 45m

Yield 24 serving(s)

Number Of Ingredients 9

2 cups quick-cooking oats
1 cup all-purpose flour
1 cup brown sugar
1/2 teaspoon salt
1/2 teaspoon baking soda
3/4 cup butter
1 (14 ounce) can sweetened condensed milk
3/4 cup peanut butter
1 cup semi-sweet chocolate chips

Steps:

  • Preheat oven to 350 degrees F (175 degrees C). Grease a 9x13 inch baking pan.
  • In a large bowl, stir together the oats, flour, brown sugar, salt and baking soda. Cut in the butter to form a crumbly mixture.
  • Reserve 1 1/2 cups of the crumbs, and pat the rest evenly into the bottom of the prepared pan.
  • In a medium bowl, stir together the sweetened condensed milk and peanut butter. Spread evenly over the oatmeal layer.
  • Sprinkle the chocolate chips over the peanut butter layer, then crumble the reserved crust over the top.
  • Bake for 30 to 35 minutes in the preheated oven, until golden brown. Cool completely before cutting into bars.

Tips:

  • Choose the right pan: A 9x13 inch pan is the ideal size for this recipe. A larger pan will result in thinner bars, while a smaller pan will make them too thick.
  • Don't overmix the batter: Overmixing will make the bars tough. Mix just until the ingredients are combined.
  • Bake the bars until they are set: The bars are done baking when a toothpick inserted into the center comes out clean.
  • Let the bars cool completely before cutting them: This will help them to hold their shape.
  • Store the bars in an airtight container at room temperature: The bars will keep for up to 3 days.

Conclusion:

Passion Bars are a delicious and easy-to-make treat that is perfect for any occasion. They are made with a simple shortbread crust, a creamy passion fruit filling, and a whipped cream topping. These bars are sure to be a hit with your friends and family. They are a great way to use up fresh passion fruit, and they are also a delicious way to enjoy the flavors of the tropics.
