375g pack puff pastry sheet
1 egg , beaten
175g marzipan , chopped
3 peaches , halved, stoned and thinly sliced
1 tbsp flaked almonds
crème fraîche , to serve

  • Heat oven to 220C/200C fan/gas 7. Unroll the pastry on a lightly floured surface and cut in half horizontally. Slice each half into 3.
  • Lay the pastry sheets on a baking sheet. Use a knife to mark a 1cm border on each - be careful not to go all the way through. Prick inside the border with a fork, then brush all over with beaten egg.

1 1/4 cups flour
1 cup sugar
1/2 teaspoon nutmeg
1/2 teaspoon salt
8 tablespoons butter or 8 tablespoons margarine
1/2 cup sliced almonds
3 lbs peaches, about 5
1 teaspoon lemon juice
1 tablespoon cornstarch
1/4 teaspoon almond extract

Steps:

  • Heat the oven to 375.
  • Butter a 9" square baking pan.
  • Combine the flour, 1/2 cup of the sugar, 1/4 tsp.
  • of the nutmeg and the salt.
  • Cut in the butter until the mixture is crumbly.
