PEANUT BUTTER CRISPY BROWNIES

Peanut Butter Crispy Brownies image

This is an adaptation of a "Brownie Goody Bar" recipe I found on the back of a Better Crocker brownie box a few years ago. We also call them Scotcharoo Brownies, because they have a butterscotch, peanut butter, rice crispy layer on top of a fuggy brownie. This is my family's favorite sweet treat! They are sooo good. I usually wrap them individually in suran wrap and store in the refrigerator so that they do not all get eaten at once. This slows the guys down a little.

Peanut Butter Brownies image

Brownies won't get any better than this peanut butter and chocolate combo frosted with even more peanut butter. Yum!

Provided by By Betty Crocker Kitchens

Categories     Dessert

Time 2h30m

Yield 20

Number Of Ingredients 8

1 box (16 oz) Betty Crocker™ Supreme original brownie mix
Water, vegetable oil and eggs called for on brownie mix box for cakelike brownies
1/4 cup packed brown sugar
1/4 cup creamy peanut butter
1 egg
3/4 cup Betty Crocker™ Rich & Creamy vanilla frosting (from 16-oz container)
1/4 cup creamy peanut butter
1 to 2 teaspoons milk

Steps:

  • Heat oven to 325°F. Grease bottom of 9-inch square pan with shortening or cooking spray. Make brownie batter as directed on box for cakelike brownies. In small bowl, reserve 1/2 cup of the brownie batter; set aside. Spread remaining batter in pan.
  • In small bowl, mix brown sugar, 1/4 cup peanut butter and 1 egg. Spoon peanut butter mixture by tablespoonfuls evenly onto brownie batter. Top with random tablespoonfuls of reserved brownie batter. Cut through batter several times with knife for marbled design.
  • Bake 35 to 38 minutes or until toothpick inserted 2 inches from side of pan comes out almost clean. Cool completely on cooling rack, about 1 1/2 hours.
  • In small bowl, mix Peanut Butter Frosting ingredients, until smooth and spreadable. Spread frosting over brownies. Cut into 5 rows by 4 rows. Store tightly covered.

Nutrition Facts : Calories 220, Carbohydrate 30 g, Cholesterol 30 mg, Fat 2, Fiber 0 g, Protein 3 g, SaturatedFat 2 g, ServingSize 1 Brownie, Sodium 130 mg, Sugar 22 g, TransFat 0 g

Tips:

  • Use high-quality peanut butter. The better the peanut butter, the better the brownies will taste. Look for a peanut butter that is made with 100% peanuts and no added sugar or oils.
  • Don't overmix the batter. Overmixing the batter will make the brownies tough. Mix just until the ingredients are combined.
  • Bake the brownies until they are just set. Overbaking the brownies will make them dry and crumbly. Bake them just until a toothpick inserted into the center comes out with just a few moist crumbs attached.
  • Let the brownies cool completely before cutting them. This will help them to set and hold their shape.
  • Serve the brownies with your favorite toppings. Some popular toppings include ice cream, whipped cream, chocolate sauce, and peanut butter chips.

Conclusion:

Peanut butter crispy brownies are a delicious and easy-to-make treat. They are perfect for any occasion and can be enjoyed by people of all ages. With just a few simple ingredients, you can create a batch of brownies that will satisfy your sweet tooth and leave you craving more. So next time you are looking for a delicious and indulgent dessert, give peanut butter crispy brownies a try. You won't be disappointed!
