CARAMEL PEANUT BUTTER DIP AND FUJI APPLES

Caramel Peanut Butter Dip and Fuji Apples image

Age level: 4 to 6 years Skill level: beginner

Provided by Rachael Ray : Food Network

Time 8m

Yield 4 servings

Number Of Ingredients 6

24 wrapped caramel candies (recommended: Kraft brand) 1/2 of a 14-ounce bag
2 Fuji apples
2 tablespoons lemon juice
1 cup water plus 1 tablespoon
2 tablespoonfuls creamy peanut butter
Pinch ground cinnamon (this is your SECRET ingredient)

Steps:

  • Unwrap candies and place into a bowl.
  • Have your GH cut the Fuji apples into quarters and cut into each quarter to remove the core. The GH should then slice apples into 8 pieces per apple. Count for them and make sure they make even slices. You need 16 slices, total. Squirt some lemon juice into a bowl with 1 cup of water in it. Add the sliced apples and turn them around in the lemon water then drain them in a strainer or colander. Lemon juice is sour, but it's only a tiny bit on lots of apple slices. The apples will still taste sweet and really good. The skin of an apple keeps them from turning brown before you cut them, but apples will turn brown once they are cut up and the air can touch their insides. Lemon juice is acidic. That means that it has special properties in it that can keep apples from turning brown.
  • Add 1 tablespoon water and peanut butter to your caramel candies. Place candies in microwave oven on high for 2 minutes. Stir the dip with a rubber spatula. If the candy is not melted all the way, put it back in the microwave on high for another 20 seconds. Add a pinch of cinnamon to the sauce and stir. DO NOT TELL ANYONE ABOUT THE CINNAMON! Tell your GH not to tell, too. This is your secret ingredient.
  • To serve, place drained, sliced apples next to your caramel and peanut butter dip and start dunking!

My kids have always loved this as a healthy after-school snack and my Girl Scouts chose to use it for their annual Mother-Daughter Tea.

Provided by Donna Matthews

Categories     Lunch/Snacks

Time 10m

Yield 1 cup

Number Of Ingredients 3

1/2 cup creamy peanut butter
8 ounces Cool Whip
8 apples

Steps:

  • Put peanut butter in a medium bowl.
  • Add about a quarter of the Cool Whip and stir until creamy.
  • Add some more Cool Whip, stirring/ folding to further thin the peanut butter.
  • Continue to add Cool Whip in batches until the dip is completely mixed.
  • The trick is to mix completely but not mash any more of the air out of the Cool Whip than is necessary.
  • It will taste great, regardless; but the texture is nicer, the lighter it is.
  • The kids won't care, but adults might notice.
  • Serve the peanut butter mixture with apple slices and dip away.

PEANUT BUTTER PUMPKIN DIP WITH CINNAMON CHIPS

Peanut Butter Pumpkin Dip With Cinnamon Chips image

Couldn't be easier! Peanut butter and pumpkin go great together. Simple and quick to put together. This is not a super sweet dip but pairs well with the sugared chips. You could always add more honey if you want it sweeter. This would also be great served with graham crackers or apples. Cook time is per each pan of chips. Entered for RSC #13.

Provided by IHeartDogs

Categories     Dessert

Time 24m

Yield 1 1/4 cups

Number Of Ingredients 8

1/2 cup smooth peanut butter (not natural-style)
3/4 cup canned pumpkin
1/8 cup honey
1/4 teaspoon ground cinnamon
1 (12 ounce) package pita bread (I used the 7 inch size)
2 tablespoons granulated sugar
1/2 teaspoon ground cinnamon
cooking spray

Steps:

  • Preheat oven to 350 degrees.
  • For the dip, put peanut butter, pumpkin, honey and 1/4 teaspoon cinnamon in a small food processor.
  • Process until well blended. (It will have a slightly whipped texture). If you don't have a food processor use an electric hand mixer, or mix by hand, but a processor will likely give the best result.
  • Split pita breads in half so you have two rounds from each pita. The easiest way I found to do this was to cut the pita in half then pull the halves apart. Use a pizza cutter to cut into triangles (they don't have to be perfect -- just rip them into pieces if you want).
  • Make cinnamon-sugar by combining 1/2 teaspoon cinnamon and granulated sugar in a small bowl.
  • Lay pita triangles on cookie sheet in one layer, rough side up, spray lightly with cooking spray, and sprinkle with cinnamon-sugar mixture.
  • Bake for 7-9 minutes, until chips are browned and crisp. Watch carefully, as they can burn in just one minute too long. In my oven, 9 minutes was perfect.
  • Remove from oven, let cool, repeat with remaining chips and serve with dip.
  • If not serving right away, refrigerate dip and store chips in a well sealed container or storage bag.
  • If you have cinnamon-sugar left, make cinnamon toast or add it to your coffee!

2 teaspoons olive or vegetable oil
8 medium green onions, sliced ( 1/2 cup)
2 teaspoons finely chopped gingerroot
2 cloves garlic, finely chopped

Nutrition Facts : Calories 115, Carbohydrate 4 g, Cholesterol 10 mg, Fiber 1 g, Protein 4 g, SaturatedFat 3 g, ServingSize 1 Serving, Sodium 115 mg

Tips:

  • Choose the right peanut butter: Opt for a smooth, creamy peanut butter without any added sugar or salt.
  • Use high-quality chocolate: The better the chocolate, the better the dip will taste. Look for a chocolate with a cocoa content of at least 70%.
  • Don't overmix the dip: Overmixing can make the dip too thick and grainy. Mix just until the ingredients are well combined.
  • Chill the dip before serving: This will help the flavors to meld together and make the dip more firm.
  • Serve the dip with a variety of dippers: Some popular options include fruit, crackers, pretzels, and cookies.

Conclusion:

Peanut butter dip is a delicious and versatile snack or dessert that can be enjoyed by people of all ages.
