Time 1h25m

Number Of Ingredients 6

1 c creamy peanut butter
3/4 c caramel flavored ice cream topping
3 Tbsp packed brown sugar
3 c apple-cinnamon flavor round toasted oat cereal (apple jacks)
1 c coarsely chopped dried apples
1/2 c salted peanuts, coarsely chopped

Steps:

  • 1. Line an 8x8x2-inch baking pan with foil, extending foil up over edges of pan. Butter or spray the foil. In a large saucepan combine 3/4 cup of the peanut butter, 1/2 cup of the ice cream topping, and the brown sugar. Cook and stir over medium beat just until mixture starts to bubble.
  • 2. Remove from heat. Add cereal and apples; stir gently to coat. Transfer to prepared pan; press firmly into pan.
  • 3. In a small bowl, stir together remaining 1/4 cup peanut butter and 1/4 cup ice cream topping. Spread evenly over bars and sprinkle with peanuts, pressing lightly.
  • 4. Let bars stand 1 hour to set. Use foil to lift from pan. Cut into bars.

Tips:

  • Use fresh ingredients: This will ensure that your peanutty caramel bars have the best flavor and texture.
  • Don't overcook the caramel: Overcooked caramel will be hard and brittle, instead cook it until it reaches a golden brown color and has a slightly thick consistency.
  • Be patient: Making peanutty caramel bars takes time, from preparing the ingredients to baking and cooling. Be patient and follow the recipe carefully to ensure success.
  • Use a good quality peanut butter: The peanut butter is a key ingredient in these bars, so make sure to use a good quality brand that you enjoy the taste of.
  • Don't skimp on the chocolate chips: Chocolate chips add a delicious richness to these bars, so don't be afraid to use a generous amount.

Peanutty caramel bars are a delicious and easy-to-make treat that are perfect for any occasion. They're sweet, salty, and have a wonderful combination of textures.
