A wonderful custard type pie. The recipe was given to me by a friend when I had a bumper yield of pears from the tree in our yard. It's a favorite even when I have to buy the pears. To make prep time even faster I use a deep dish pie shell from the frozen food section.

  • Use ripe pears: For the best flavor and texture, choose ripe but firm pears. Avoid pears that are too soft or bruised.
  • Peel the pears thinly: To avoid wasting the pear's flesh, use a sharp knife to peel the pears thinly.
  • Use a variety of pears: For a more complex flavor, use a variety of pear varieties in your pie. Some good options include Bartlett, Bosc, and Anjou pears.
  • Don't overcook the pears: Overcooked pears will lose their flavor and texture. Cook the pears until they are just tender.
  • Use a good quality pie crust: A good quality pie crust will make all the difference in the final product. You can use a homemade pie crust or a store-bought one.
  • Chill the pie before serving: Chilling the pie before serving will help the filling to set and make it easier to slice.

Pear pie is a classic dessert that is perfect for any occasion. With its sweet and juicy filling and flaky crust, it's sure to be a hit with everyone. Follow these tips to make the best pear pie possible.
