Provided by Kim D.

Categories     Sauces

Time 20m

Yield 2 cups

Number Of Ingredients 8

1/2 cup butter
1/2 cup semi-sweet chocolate chips
1 cup packed brown sugar
3 tablespoons light corn syrup
1 dash salt
1 cup evaporated milk
1/2 cup chopped pecans
1 teaspoon pure vanilla extract

Steps:

  • In a large saucepan, melt butter and chocolate chips over medium heat.
  • Stir until blended and add brown sugar, corn syrup and salt.
  • Boil 5 minutes.
  • Add evaporated milk, pecans, and vanilla extract.
  • Stir and boil 1 minute longer.
  • Cool a little and serve warm on top of ice cream or a brownie sundae!

Tips:

  • Use fresh pecans: Fresh pecans will have a more intense flavor. If you don't have fresh pecans, you can use roasted pecans, but they will not be as flavorful.
  • Toast the pecans: Toasting the pecans will bring out their flavor and make them more crunchy. To toast the pecans, spread them on a baking sheet and bake them in a preheated 350°F oven for 5-7 minutes, or until they are fragrant and slightly browned.
  • Use a good quality chocolate sauce: The chocolate sauce is a key component of this sundae, so it's important to use a good quality sauce. Look for a sauce that is made with real chocolate and has a rich, creamy flavor.
  • Don't skimp on the whipped cream: Whipped cream is the perfect topping for this sundae. It adds a light and fluffy texture that balances out the richness of the chocolate and pecans.
  • Serve immediately: This sundae is best served immediately, while the ice cream is still cold and the whipped cream is still fluffy.

Conclusion:

The pecan praline sundae is a delicious and decadent dessert that is perfect for any occasion. It's easy to make and can be tailored to your own taste preferences. With its rich chocolate, crunchy pecans, and creamy whipped cream, this sundae is sure to be a hit with everyone who tries it.
