A friend made these treats and gave them away in pretty canning jars. The combination of sweet, salty and peppermint is just right. Try dipping them in white candy coating and rolling them in crushed candy canes for variety.-Michelle Krzmarzick, Redondo Beach, California

2 cups semisweet chocolate chips
1 tablespoon shortening
1 package (10 ounces) pretzel rods
40 red and/or green hard mint candies, crushed

Steps:

  • In a microwave, melt chocolate chips and shortening; stir until smooth. Break each pretzel rod in half. Dip the broken end about halfway into melted chocolate; allow excess to drip off. Roll in crushed candies. Place on a waxed paper-lined baking sheet. Chill until set.

6 oz vanilla-flavored candy coating (almond bark), cut into pieces
2 tablespoons shortening
2/3 cup finely crushed peppermint candies (24 candies)
12 (8 1/2-inch) pretzel rods (from 11-oz package)

Steps:

  • Line cookie sheet with waxed paper. In 2-quart saucepan, melt almond bark and shortening over low heat, stirring occasionally. Pour into 11x7-inch (2-quart) glass baking dish or other shallow dish; carefully set baking dish in hot water to keep almond bark soft. (Do not get any water into almond bark.)
  • Sprinkle crushed candy over separate sheet of waxed paper. Dip pretzels into almond bark; allow excess to drip off. Roll in crushed candy. Place on cookie sheet. Let stand until set, about 30 minutes.

These White Chocolate Peppermint Pretzels are so easy to make and full of holiday flavor.

12 ounces white chocolate
½ cup finely crushed peppermint candy
8 ounces small salted pretzels

Steps:

  • In a microwave safe bowl, melt white chocolate at power for 45 seconds; stir.
  • Return to microwave at 30 second intervals until the chocolate is fully melted and smooth.
  • Stir in 1/4 cup crushed peppermint into melted chocolate.
  • Using a your finger, dip pretzels in white chocolate and peppermint mixture. (I didn't cover the area where my finger was to make it go a lot faster)
  • Tap the pretzel on the side of bowl to remove excess chocolate.
  • Place pretzels on wax paper and sprinkle with a little more crushed peppermint candy.
