Tips:

  • Choose the right asparagus: Look for asparagus spears that are firm and bright green, with tight tips. Avoid spears that are limp or have woody ends.
  • Trim the asparagus: Cut off the woody ends of the asparagus spears. You can also peel the asparagus, if desired.
  • Cook the asparagus: You can cook the asparagus before wrapping it in phyllo dough, or you can wrap it uncooked. If you are cooking the asparagus, blanch it in boiling water for 2-3 minutes, then shock it in ice water to stop the cooking process.
  • Choose the right cheese: Boursin cheese is a soft, creamy cheese that is perfect for this recipe. You can also use other types of soft cheese, such as goat cheese or Brie.
  • Wrap the asparagus: Cut the phyllo dough into squares or rectangles. Place a spear of asparagus on each square or rectangle of phyllo dough. Top with a dollop of Boursin cheese. Fold the phyllo dough around the asparagus, starting from the bottom and working your way up. Brush the top of the phyllo dough with melted butter.
  • Bake the asparagus: Preheat the oven to 400 degrees Fahrenheit. Bake the asparagus for 15-20 minutes, or until the phyllo dough is golden brown and the cheese is melted.

Conclusion:

Phyllo-wrapped asparagus and Boursin is a delicious and easy appetizer or side dish. It is perfect for any occasion, from a casual get-together to a formal dinner party. With its flaky phyllo dough, creamy Boursin cheese, and tender asparagus, this dish is sure to please everyone at the table.
