Breadsticks - Pizza Hut Style image

Under orders from the teenagers in the house, I created recipes for their favourite take out breadsticks and dipping sauce. The dough can easily be made up in the bread machine. The sauce has been posted separately as Dipping Sauce - Pizza Hut Style.

Time 1h15m

Yield 16 breadsticks, 8 serving(s)

Number Of Ingredients 6

1 1/3 cups water
4 teaspoons light butter (softened)
4 cups flour
2 tablespoons sugar
2 teaspoons salt
2 teaspoons yeast

Steps:

  • Mix all ingredients in bread Machine on dough setting.
  • Then, roll it out into a log and divide it into 16 pieces. (I can normally only get about 12) Roll these pieces into cigar-shaped sticks of bread. Arrange on a baking sheet.
  • Cover, and let rise for 45 minutes.
  • Preheat your oven to 400*F. Use your brush to butter each stick, saving some butter for later. Sprinkle with kosher salt.
  • Cook for 15 minutes. Remove, then brush twice more and add another sprinkling of kosher salt and a light sprinkle of garlic powder. Tada! Olive Garden breadsticks.
  • For Pizza Hut:.
  • mix: 1/3 cup of parmesan cheese 1 tsp ground black pepper 1 tsp italian seasoning 1/2 tsp garlic powder
  • Then shake these onto your breadsticks to your liking (don't overpower the sticks though) For Cheesesticks Sprinkle shredded mozzarella onto the tops, then pop under the broiler until the cheese bubbles and burns a bit.

Tips:

  • For a crispier crust on your breadsticks, brush them with melted butter or olive oil before baking.
  • To add extra flavor, sprinkle your breadsticks with garlic powder, Italian seasoning, or grated Parmesan cheese before baking.
  • If you don't have a baking stone, you can bake your breadsticks on a greased baking sheet.
  • To make sure your breadsticks are cooked through, insert a toothpick into the center. If it comes out clean, they're done.
  • Serve your breadsticks warm with your favorite dipping sauce.

Conclusion:

Making breadsticks at home is a fun and easy way to enjoy a delicious and satisfying snack or appetizer. With just a few simple ingredients and a little time, you can create breadsticks that are just as good as, if not better than, the ones you get from your favorite restaurant. So next time you're craving breadsticks, give one of these recipes a try. You won't be disappointed!
