Time 1h10m

Yield 12 cups, 12 serving(s)

Number Of Ingredients 6

2 family-size tea bags, like luzianne
4 cups boiling water
12 mint leaves (optional)
1/2 cup sugar (or 3/4 cup Splenda)
1 (6 ounce) can frozen lemonade concentrate, prepared according to directions on the can
1 (12 ounce) can pineapple juice

Steps:

  • Pour 4 cups boiling water over tea bags, mint, and sugar in a pitcher.
  • Steep for 30 minutes.
  • Remove tea bags and mint.
  • Add prepared lemonade to tea.
  • Add pineapple juice and stir.
  • Refrigerate and serve over ice.

Tips:

  • Choose the right tea: Black tea is the traditional choice for iced tea, but you can also use green tea, white tea, or herbal tea. If you're using black tea, look for a bold, flavorful tea like Assam or Ceylon. If you're using green tea, choose a light, delicate tea like Sencha or Gyokuro. And if you're using herbal tea, choose a tea with a strong flavor like peppermint or chamomile.
  • Brew your tea strong: The key to making good iced tea is to brew your tea strong. This will ensure that the tea has a lot of flavor, even after it's been diluted with water and ice. To brew strong tea, use twice as much tea leaves as you would normally use. Steep the tea leaves in hot water for 3-5 minutes, or according to the package directions.
  • Sweeten your tea to taste: Iced tea is traditionally sweetened with sugar, but you can also use honey, agave nectar, or another sweetener of your choice. If you're using sugar, add it to the hot tea while it's still brewing. This will help the sugar to dissolve completely. If you're using another sweetener, add it to the iced tea after it's been chilled.
  • Add some flavorings: Iced tea is a great way to experiment with different flavors. You can add fruit, herbs, or spices to your tea to create a unique and refreshing drink. Some popular flavorings include lemon, mint, ginger, and cinnamon.
  • Chill your tea quickly: The best way to chill your iced tea quickly is to pour it over ice. You can also place the tea in the refrigerator or freezer until it's cold. If you're in a hurry, you can even chill your tea in the microwave. Just be sure to heat the tea in short bursts, stirring in between, until it's cold.

Conclusion:

Iced tea is a refreshing and delicious drink that can be enjoyed all year long. With a few simple tips, you can make iced tea at home that's just as good as anything you'd buy at a restaurant or cafe. So next time you're looking for a cool and refreshing drink, reach for a glass of iced tea.
