MARSHMALLOW POPCORN BALLS RECIPE - (4.3/5)

Marshmallow Popcorn Balls Recipe - (4.3/5) image

Provided by Foodiewife

Number Of Ingredients 5

4 tablespoons (1/4-cup) unsalted butter
10 ounces marshmallows (you can use regular sized or mini marshmallows)
1 teaspoon vanilla extract
1/4 teaspoon salt
12 cups popcorn

Steps:

  • Prepare the popcorn (I use 1/2 cup popcorn kernels with 2 tablespoons coconut oil). Place the popcorn into a large bowl, and remove any un-popped kernels. Melt the butter in a saucepan over medium heat. Stir in the marshmallows, vanilla and salt. Heat, stirring constantly, until the marshmallows are completely melted and the mixture is smooth. Shortcut: I melted all of the ingredients in a microwave (3 to 4 minutes) stirring a couple of times in between. I like to use disposable gloves, sprayed with non-stick spray to easily form the popcorn balls. Allow to set for at least an hour, so the popcorn balls stay stuck together. That's hard to do, as my family gets into them as fast as I can make them!

Tips:

  • Choose the right popcorn: Use a popcorn variety that is known for popping big and fluffy. This will result in popcorn balls that are light and airy.
  • Don't overcook the popcorn: Overcooked popcorn will be tough and chewy, which will make it difficult to form into balls.
  • Use fresh marshmallows: Fresh marshmallows will be soft and gooey, which will help to hold the popcorn balls together.
  • Don't add too much butter: Too much butter will make the popcorn balls greasy and difficult to handle.
  • Let the popcorn balls cool completely before serving: This will help them to set and become firm.

Conclusion:

Popcorn balls are a fun and easy treat that can be enjoyed by people of all ages. They are perfect for parties, picnics, or as a quick snack. With a few simple ingredients and a little bit of time, you can make delicious popcorn balls that will be a hit with everyone who tries them.
