PORK BARBEQUE

Pork Barbeque image

The BEST pork barbeque recipe available. It is a modified version of a long time secret pork barbeque recipe of a now out of business barbeque restaurant in Harrisburg, Pennsylvania. It can be made the day that it is to be served, but the best is to cook it the day before, place it in the refrigerator overnight, and then heat it in the slow cooker the next day to serve. This way, it soaks up all of the added flavoring.

Tips:

  • Choose the right cut of meat: For pulled pork, choose a pork shoulder or pork butt. For beef brisket, choose a brisket flat or point. These cuts have a lot of connective tissue that breaks down during cooking, resulting in tender, flavorful meat.
  • Use a good rub: A rub is a mixture of spices and herbs that is applied to the meat before cooking. A good rub will help to flavor the meat and create a crispy crust.
  • Cook the meat low and slow: Barbecue is all about low and slow cooking. This allows the connective tissue in the meat to break down and the flavors to develop.
  • Use a smoker or grill: You can cook barbecue on a smoker or a grill. If you're using a smoker, maintain a temperature of 225-250 degrees Fahrenheit. If you're using a grill, set it up for indirect cooking.
  • Be patient: Barbecue takes time. Don't rush the process. The longer you cook the meat, the more tender and flavorful it will be.

Conclusion:

Barbecue is a delicious and versatile way to cook meat. Whether you're using a smoker or a grill, there are a few tips you can follow to ensure that your barbecue is a success. Choose the right cut of meat, use a good rub, cook the meat low and slow, and be patient. With a little practice, you'll be able to create delicious barbecue that your friends and family will love.
