1/4 cup instant flour (such as Wondra) or cornstarch
Kosher salt
4 1/2-inch-thick boneless pork loin chops, trimmed
1 orange
1/4 cup rice vinegar
1/3 cup honey
8 large sprigs fresh mint

Add the plums and cook until slightly soft, about 4 minutes. Remove from the heat and discard the mint. Swirl in the butter, if desired, and season with salt.
  • Heat 1/4 inch peanut oil in a large nonstick skillet over medium-high heat. Fry the pork until golden and crisp, 4 to 5 minutes per side. Transfer to a paper towel-lined plate to drain. Season with salt and serve with the plum sauce.

Provided by GratefulSea

Number Of Ingredients 6

4 pounds St. Louis-style pork ribs
6 cloves garlic, minced
1/2 cup Bonne Maman plum jam
1/2 cup soy sauce
3 Tablespoons rice vinegar
2 Tablespoons hoisin sauce

Steps:

  • Prepare the marinade: in a large bowl, combine the minced garlic, plum jam, soy sauce, rice vinegar, and hoisin sauce. Whisky until smooth. Place the ribs in a gallon-size freezer bag and pour the marinade over the ribs. Close the bag and shake so that all the ribs get covered with marinade. Place the freezer bag in the fridge for at least 2 hours, or ideally overnight. Preheat the oven to 350 degrees F. Line baking sheets with tin foil or parchment paper. Place the ribs on the lined baking sheets bone-side-down. Reserve the remaining marinade and brush some of it on top with a pastry brush. Roast for 45 to 50 minutes, brushing more marinade over the top of the ribs about halfway through. The ribs are done when they are golden brown on top and cooked through. Transfer the ribs to a large platter and serve. Enjoy!

4 boneless pork chops
salt and ground black pepper to taste
1 large clove garlic, minced
¼ cup soy sauce
2 tablespoons red wine vinegar
2 tablespoons brown sugar
¼ teaspoon ground ginger
⅛ teaspoon ground cloves
5 fresh plums, pitted and coarsely chopped

Stir the mixture until the brown sugar dissolves; add the plums. Cover, reduce heat, and simmer the mixture until the sauce has thickened and the plums are very soft, about 45 minutes. Mash the plums with a potato masher to an applesauce-like texture. Place the pork chops back into the pan and cook in the sauce until no longer pink in the middle, 10 to 15 minutes. Tips:

  • Choose the right ribs: Baby back ribs are the most popular choice for spareribs, but you can also use St. Louis-style ribs. Baby back ribs are smaller and more tender, while St. Louis-style ribs are larger and have more meat.
  • Prepare the ribs: Before cooking, remove the membrane from the back of the ribs. This will help the ribs to cook more evenly and will make them more tender.
  • Make a flavorful marinade: The marinade is what gives the ribs their flavor, so make sure to use a flavorful combination of ingredients. Some popular ingredients for sparerib marinades include soy sauce, brown sugar, garlic, ginger, and five-spice powder.
  • Cook the ribs slowly: Spareribs need to be cooked slowly in order to become tender. The best way to do this is to cook them in a slow cooker or in the oven at a low temperature.
  • Baste the ribs: While the ribs are cooking, baste them with the marinade or a barbecue sauce. This will help to keep the ribs moist and flavorful.
  • Serve the ribs with your favorite sides: Spareribs are a great main course for a party or potluck. Serve them with your favorite sides, such as coleslaw, potato salad, or baked beans.

Conclusion:

Pork spareribs in plum sauce is a delicious and easy-to-make dish that is perfect for any occasion. The ribs are tender and flavorful, and the plum sauce adds a sweet and tangy flavor. By following these tips, you can make the best pork spareribs in plum sauce that your family and friends will love.
