SWEET AND SPICY PORK AND NAPA CABBAGE STIR-FRY WITH SPICY NOODLES

Sweet and Spicy Pork and Napa Cabbage Stir-Fry with Spicy Noodles image

The Thai sweet chili sauce gives this dish a sweet and spicy flavor that my kids love. You can adjust the heat level by adding more or less of the sauce or adding additional red pepper flakes, if you like it really hot.

Yield Serves 6

Number Of Ingredients 8

1/2 pound snow peas, trimmed and strings discarded
1 1/2 pounds Napa cabbage, cut into thin shreds (about 9 cups)
2 medium carrots, shredded
1 medium yellow bell pepper, cut into thin strips
3 scallions, chopped fine
1 tablespoon fresh lemon juice
1 tablespoon rice vinegar
3 tablespoons olive oil

Steps:

  • In a large saucepan of boiling water blanch snow peas 15 seconds and transfer with a slotted spoon to a bowl of ice and cold water to stop cooking. Drain snow peas well and slice thin diagonally. In a large bowl toss snow peas with remaining ingredients and salt and pepper to taste.

Tips:

  • Mise en Place: Before you start cooking, make sure you have all of your ingredients prepped and measured. This will help you stay organized and ensure that your dish comes together quickly and easily.
  • Choose the Right Noodles: The type of noodles you use will impact the texture and flavor of your dish. For this recipe, thin noodles like ramen or soba noodles work well because they cook quickly and absorb the sauce nicely.
  • Tenderize the Pork: To make sure the pork is tender and juicy, marinate it for at least 30 minutes before cooking. You can use a simple marinade made with soy sauce, rice wine, and ginger, or try something more flavorful like a hoisin-based marinade.
  • Cook the Pork Properly: Pork should be cooked to an internal temperature of 145°F (63°C) to ensure that it is safe to eat. Use a meat thermometer to check the temperature of the pork before serving.
  • Make the Snow Pea Slaw: The snow pea slaw adds a refreshing crunch and bright flavor to the dish. Make sure to use fresh snow peas and thinly slice them for the best results.
  • Balance the Flavors: This dish combines sweet, salty, and sour flavors. Adjust the amount of each ingredient to your liking, depending on your personal preferences.

Conclusion:

Pork with Noodles and Snow Pea Slaw is a delicious and easy-to-make dish that is perfect for a quick weeknight meal. The tender pork, flavorful sauce, and refreshing slaw come together to create a satisfying and balanced dish. By following these tips, you can ensure that your Pork with Noodles and Snow Pea Slaw turns out perfectly every time.
