SINGAPORE PORK AND ONION STIR-FRY (CHINESE)

Singapore Pork and Onion Stir-Fry (Chinese) image

A recipe from my mum, tweaked by me. I love this marinade - you can use it for chicken, and bee hoon (rice vermicelli). For the bee hoon, just prepare the pork first, then add in chopped veggies (cabbage, carrots). After soaking your bee hoon in hot water for 10 minutes, throw the lot in and fry. Add more oyster sauce (till the noodles are a light brown) and you're good to go! ***If you find the marinade too salty, just decrease all the sauce amounts. Proportions: [light soya sauce = oyster sauce] and [dark soya sauce = 2 x light soya sauce]

Tips for Making the Best Pork with Onion Sauce:

  • Choose the right cut of pork: For this recipe, a pork loin roast or pork shoulder is best. These cuts are flavorful and tender when cooked properly.
  • Brown the pork before cooking: Browning the pork in a skillet over medium-high heat before adding it to the slow cooker helps to develop its flavor and create a nice crust.
  • Use a good quality onion sauce: You can use a store-bought onion sauce or make your own. If you're making your own, use a variety of onions, such as yellow, white, and red, for a more complex flavor.
  • Cook the pork on low heat: Cooking the pork on low heat for 8-10 hours allows it to become fall-apart tender and absorb all the flavors of the onion sauce.
  • Serve with your favorite sides: Pork with onion sauce is delicious served with mashed potatoes, rice, or noodles. You can also add a side of vegetables, such as green beans or roasted carrots.

Conclusion:

Pork with onion sauce is a classic comfort food dish that is easy to make and always a crowd-pleaser. By following these tips, you can make the best pork with onion sauce that your family and friends will love. Enjoy!
