Provided by rrxing

Number Of Ingredients 7

1 package refrigerated biscuits (I prefer frozen Southern Style Pillsbury Grands! biscuits)
1 pound ground maple-flavored sausage
2 tablespoons butter
1 8-ounce block cream cheese, cubed
1/2 to 1 cup milk
Salt to taste
At least 1 tablespoon black pepper

Steps:

  • Prepare biscuits according to package directions. Meanwhile, brown sausage in 2 tablespoons butter over medium-high heat. When sausage is cooked through, reduce heat to medium and add cream cheese, stirring to melt and combine. Add milk to desired thickness (I like a thick gravy, so I usually only use about 1/2 cup). Add salt and pepper and heat until bubbly. Serve over open-faced buttered biscuits.

Tips:

- Use high-quality sausage: The sausage is the star of the show in this dish, so it's important to use a good quality sausage. Look for a sausage that is made with fresh, flavorful meat and has a good balance of spices. - Brown the sausage properly: Browning the sausage properly is essential for developing its flavor. Cook the sausage over medium heat until it is browned all over, but not overcooked. - Make sure the gravy is thick enough: The gravy should be thick enough to coat the biscuits and sausage. If the gravy is too thin, it will be runny and won't stick to the food. If the gravy is too thick, it will be difficult to pour and spread. - Use fresh buttermilk: Buttermilk is an essential ingredient in these biscuits. Fresh buttermilk will give the biscuits a light and fluffy texture. If you don't have fresh buttermilk, you can make your own by adding 1 tablespoon of lemon juice or vinegar to 1 cup of regular milk. - Don't overwork the biscuit dough: Overworking the biscuit dough will make the biscuits tough. Gently stir the ingredients together until just combined. - Bake the biscuits until they are golden brown: The biscuits should be baked until they are golden brown on top. This will ensure that they are cooked through and have a crispy exterior.

Conclusion:

These pretty damn amazing biscuits with sausage gravy are a delicious and hearty breakfast or brunch dish. They are easy to make and can be prepared in under an hour. The biscuits are light and fluffy, and the sausage gravy is rich and flavorful. This dish is sure to be a hit with your family and friends.
