RASPBERRY 'PURPLE HOOTERS' COCKTAILS

Raspberry 'purple Hooters' Cocktails image

This is a tasty Chambord cocktail that I came across at a bar in Kansas. They are very tasty, and pretty too! One of my favorites to serve at parties. You can also serve them as a shot, or chill in a plastic squirt bottle for camping trips (classy, I know!) NOTE: By 'lemon-lime soda' I mean 7-Up, and by 'carbonated grapefruit drink' I mean Squirt. For some reason I could not figure out how to get it to let me post the brand names.

Time 5m

Yield 4-5 cocktails, 4-5 serving(s)

Number Of Ingredients 6

6 fluid ounces vodka (a good one like Absolut or Skyy)
2 fluid ounces chambord liquor
2 fluid ounces carbonated lemon-lime beverage or 2 fluid ounces carbonated grapefruit drink
10 raspberries
5 small lime wedges (optional)
drink toothpick

Steps:

  • Shake all of the ingredients (except the raspberries) in a martini shaker with ice.
  • Strain into 4 or 5 martini glasses.
  • Skewer 2 raspberries onto each drink pick with the optional lime wedge (I just like them to add color) and place one pick in each drink.
  • Serve. If making shots, halve the ingredients, then just strain them into shot glasses and omit the garnish.

Tips:

  • Choose the right potatoes: Yukon Gold or Russet potatoes are best for making purple hooters, as they are dense and hold their shape well.
  • Boil the potatoes until they are tender, but not mushy: You should be able to easily pierce the potatoes with a fork, but they should still hold their shape.
  • Mash the potatoes until they are smooth: Use a potato masher or ricer to get the smoothest texture.
  • Add the seasonings and mix well: The seasonings will help to flavor the potatoes and make them more delicious.
  • Form the potato mixture into balls: Use a spoon or your hands to form the potato mixture into balls about 2 inches in diameter.
  • Coat the balls in flour: This will help to prevent them from sticking to each other and the pan.
  • Fry the balls in hot oil until they are golden brown: You can use a deep fryer or a large skillet to fry the balls. Make sure the oil is hot enough before adding the balls, or they will not cook evenly.
  • Serve the balls with your favorite dipping sauce: Purple hooters are traditionally served with ketchup, but you can also try other dipping sauces, such as ranch dressing, barbecue sauce, or honey mustard.

Conclusion:

Purple hooters are a delicious and easy-to-make appetizer that is perfect for any occasion. They are sure to be a hit with your friends and family. So next time you are looking for a fun and tasty snack, give purple hooters a try!
