Time 15m

Yield 4-5 cups

Number Of Ingredients 11

1 (16 ounce) can crabmeat
1 (8 ounce) container sour cream
1 (8 ounce) container whipped cream cheese
1/4 cup shredded cheese (any variety, I used a 4 cheese Mexican blend)
1 (3 ounce) package bacon bits (real bacon, NOT imitation)
1/4-1/2 teaspoon chopped cilantro (dried or fresh)
cajun seasoning (I use Tony Chachere's)
garlic powder
onion powder
pepper
salt

Steps:

  • Dump crab meat into a large mixing bowl.
  • If using lump crab meat, break up crab chunks to as small size pieces as you like.
  • Add sour cream and cream cheese and stir until well blended.
  • Add in the shredded cheese, bacon bits, and seasonings and stir together.
  • Serve with tortilla chips, bagel chips, pita chips, or crackers.

Tips:

  • Use fresh crab meat for the best flavor. If you can't find fresh crab meat, frozen crab meat will also work, but it won't be as flavorful.
  • Don't overcook the crab meat. Crab meat is delicate and can easily become tough if it's overcooked. Cook it just until it's heated through.
  • Use a good quality cream cheese. A good quality cream cheese will make the dip smooth and creamy. Avoid using low-fat or non-fat cream cheese, as it will make the dip too thin.
  • Add some Old Bay Seasoning for a classic crab dip flavor. Old Bay Seasoning is a blend of spices that is commonly used to flavor seafood. It adds a delicious savory flavor to the dip.
  • Serve the dip with your favorite crackers, vegetables, or bread. Crab dip is a versatile dish that can be served with a variety of accompaniments. Choose your favorites and enjoy!

Conclusion:

Crab dip is a delicious and easy-to-make appetizer that is perfect for any occasion. It's creamy, cheesy, and full of crab flavor. Whether you're serving it at a party or just enjoying it at home, this crab dip is sure to be a hit.
