Time 1h10m

Yield 3 Dozen

Number Of Ingredients 11

2/3 cup butter flavor shortening (I used Crisco)
1/2 cup light brown sugar, packed
1/3 cup granulated sugar
1 egg
1 teaspoon vanilla
1 cup all-purpose flour
1/2 teaspoon baking soda
1/2 teaspoon salt
2 tablespoons half-and-half (I used half and half) or 2 tablespoons milk (I used half and half)
1 1/2 cups quick oats (not instant)
1 cup Reese's mini pieces, can use more (recipe calls for 1/3 cup more)

Steps:

  • Preheat oven to 350 degrees.
  • Beat shortening, brown sugar and granulated sugar in large bowl until fluffy.
  • Beat in eggs and vanilla.
  • In another bowl, combine flour, baking soda, and salt.
  • Add dry ingredients alternately with milk to creamed mixture, stirring after each addition. I stirred by hand.
  • Stir in oats and candy pieces.
  • Drop by tablespoons (I used tablespoon measuring spoon) onto cookie sheet.
  • Bake 8 to 10 minutes or until lightly browned. Mine baked in 9 1/2 minutes. We like a chewy cookie so I take mine out just when the edges are browned.
  • Leave on cookie sheet 2 minutes. Remove to wire rack. Cool completely.
