RICE AND BLACK BEANS (RICE COOKER)

Rice and Black Beans (Rice Cooker) image

A very simple, cheap, filling side or main dish. I make this in my dorm room, all my friends come running at the smell and are delighted at the taste. It costs me about $2.25 to make. For more heat, use Hot Ro-tel.

Tips:

  • Rinse the beans thoroughly before cooking. This will help to remove any dirt or debris and reduce the cooking time.
  • Soak the beans overnight before cooking. This will help to soften the beans and reduce the cooking time by about 30 minutes.
  • Use a 1:2 ratio of beans to water. This will ensure that the beans are cooked evenly.
  • Add salt and other seasonings to the beans while they are cooking. This will help to flavor the beans.
  • Cook the beans on low heat for 1-2 hours, or until they are tender. Do not boil the beans, as this can make them tough.
  • Once the beans are cooked, drain them and rinse them with cold water. This will help to remove any excess starch and make the beans easier to digest.

Conclusion:

Black beans are a delicious and versatile ingredient that can be used in a variety of dishes. They are a good source of protein, fiber, and iron. Cooking black beans in a rice cooker is a convenient and easy way to prepare this healthy and flavorful legume.
