These are very good. When baked correctly they have almost a Corn Nut® consistency. I love garlic powder and chili powder on mine, but feel free to experiment with other seasonings.

Tips:

  • Choose ripe and flavorful peppers: Look for peppers that are vibrantly colored, firm, and have smooth skin. Avoid peppers with blemishes or bruises.
  • Roast the peppers properly: Roasting brings out the natural sweetness of the peppers and intensifies their flavor. Roast the peppers until the skin is blistered and charred, but not burnt.
  • Remove the charred skin easily: Once the peppers are roasted, place them in a paper bag or covered container for 15-20 minutes. This will help steam the peppers and make the skin easier to peel off.
  • Use a variety of hominy: Hominy is a versatile ingredient that can be found in different forms, such as canned, dried, or fresh. Feel free to experiment with different types of hominy to add different textures and flavors to your dish.
  • Season to taste: Don't be afraid to adjust the seasonings to your liking. Add more salt, pepper, or cumin if desired.

Conclusion:

Roasted peppers and hominy is a delicious and versatile dish that can be enjoyed as a side dish, main course, or appetizer. With its smoky, sweet, and savory flavors, this dish is sure to please everyone at the table. Experiment with different types of peppers, hominy, and seasonings to create your own unique variation of this classic recipe.
