Try this one, its off the box of Ronzoni elbow pasta and I make it all the time. Definitely kid friendly!! *I also add some breadcrumbs to the mixture before baking it, as well as sprinking the top with breadcrumbs and butter to give it a nice crunchy top! Its always a big hit here, and it is not hard to make.

RONZONI'S CHEESE-FILLED MANICOTTI

Ronzoni's Cheese-Filled Manicotti image

The hint of nutmeg really makes this dish. You can use storebought spaghetti sauce or my recipe #182243 or make a white sauce. When we have company I like to to make half red sauce and half white sauce. They look beautiful that way in the pan.

Categories     Manicotti

Time 1h

Yield 14 tubes, 7 serving(s)

Number Of Ingredients 10

8 ounces manicotti
2 (15 ounce) containers ricotta cheese
8 ounces shredded mozzarella cheese, divided
1/2 cup grated parmesan cheese, divided
3 tablespoons chopped fresh parsley, divided
2 eggs
1/2 teaspoon salt
1/4 teaspoon pepper
1/4 teaspoon nutmeg
14 ounces spaghetti sauce

Steps:

  • Preheat oven to 350 degrees.
  • Cook pasta according to package directions. Drain and lay flat on foil to cool.
  • Meanwhile, in a large bowl, add most of the ricotta, mozzarella, and parmesan, leaving just enough to sprinkle over the top later. Also add the eggs and seasonings and mix well.
  • Spoon or pipe about 1/3 c cheese mixture into each pasta tube and place in a 13 x 9 pan.
  • Pour spaghetti sauce over filled pasta, sprinkle with remaining mozzarella, parmesan and parsley.
  • Cover with foil and bake 35 minutes or until hot and bubbly.
  • NOTE: To make a white sauce, take equal parts butter and flour, melt and brown in pan, taking care not to burn it. Add a pinch of salt and nutmeg, then cream or milk slowly, to reach the right consistency. For this recipe, you would need about 1/2 cup each of butter and flour and about 3 c of cream or milk.

Tips:

  • Use high-quality ingredients: The better the ingredients, the better the mac and cheese. Use a good quality cheddar cheese, fresh milk, and real butter.
  • Cook the macaroni al dente: Don't overcook the macaroni, or it will become mushy. Cook it until it is just tender to the bite.
  • Make a roux: A roux is a mixture of butter and flour that helps to thicken the cheese sauce. It also adds a rich, nutty flavor.
  • Use a variety of cheeses: Don't just use one type of cheddar cheese. Try using a combination of different cheeses, such as sharp cheddar, mild cheddar, and white cheddar. You can also add other cheeses, such as Parmesan or Gruyère.
  • Add some extras: Feel free to add some other ingredients to your mac and cheese, such as cooked bacon, diced ham, or vegetables. You can also top it with bread crumbs or grated Parmesan cheese before baking.

Conclusion:

Mac and cheese is a classic comfort food that can be enjoyed by people of all ages. It is easy to make and can be customized to your own liking. Whether you like it simple or loaded with extras, there is a mac and cheese recipe out there for everyone. So next time you are looking for a quick and easy meal, give mac and cheese a try.
