ROSE PETAL ROLLS

I remember my cousin Danika making these rolls one Thanksgiving a very long time ago (while we both were really young). They came out just right even as kids; sweet, hot and soft. I'm not sure where the original recipe came from but it's been a family favorite ever since.

Tips:

  • Use high-quality bread: Fresh, soft bread will produce the best rose rolls. Look for bread that is slightly sweet, as this will help balance out the tartness of the cream cheese filling.
  • Roll the bread thinly: The thinner you roll the bread, the more delicate and flaky the rose rolls will be. Use a rolling pin to gently flatten the bread slices until they are about 1/8-inch thick.
  • Spread the cream cheese filling evenly: Use a butter knife or small spatula to spread the cream cheese filling evenly over the rolled bread slices. Make sure to leave a small border around the edges so that the filling doesn't ooze out when you bake the rolls.
  • Roll the bread slices tightly: Roll the bread slices up tightly, starting from one short end and rolling towards the other. Pinch the edges to seal the rolls and prevent them from unrolling.
  • Chill the rolls before baking: Chilling the rolls before baking helps them to set and makes them easier to handle. Place the rolls on a baking sheet and refrigerate them for at least 30 minutes before baking.
  • Bake the rolls until golden brown: Bake the rolls in a preheated oven until they are golden brown and the cream cheese filling is melted and bubbly. The baking time will vary depending on the size of the rolls, so keep an eye on them and remove them from the oven when they are done.

Conclusion:

Rose rolls are a delicious and easy-to-make treat that are perfect for any occasion. With just a few simple ingredients, you can create these beautiful and flavorful rolls that are sure to impress your friends and family. So next time you're looking for a special treat, give rose rolls a try!
