Salmon: Grilled in White Wine Marinade With Vegetables image

Delicious! And simple. Takes some time to marinate, but it's worth it. I searched for the perfect grilled salmon recipe, but it didn't seem to exist. So, here is an excellent salmon recipe with all the flavors I wanted: lemon, white wine, garlic, and dill. I topped it with these yummy onions grilled in a foil packet and Caper Mayonnaise.

ZESTY MARINADE FOR GRILLED WILD SALMON FILLETS

Zesty Marinade for Grilled Wild Salmon Fillets image

Being an avid west coast fisherman who often brings home fresh, wild salmon and who always has a reserve in the freezer we are especially appreciative of recipes that enhance that wild natural flavour. Salmon is rich tasting compared to many other species but it is still easy to overpower its flavor. No farmed Atlantic salmon for us by the way. Wouldn't eat it myself let alone serve it to friends. This recipe serves 6.

SALMON MARINADE

Salmon Marinade image

Make and share this Salmon Marinade recipe from Food.com.

Provided by AlwaysHungry

Categories     < 60 Mins

Time 38m

Yield 4 serving(s)

Number Of Ingredients 9

1 cup orange juice
1 tablespoon honey
1/4 cup soy sauce
2 tablespoons minced gingerroot
1 garlic clove, minced
2 tablespoons canola oil
salt
pepper
1 1/2 lbs salmon

Steps:

  • Combine the first 8 ingredients in a bowl and mix well.
  • Marinate the salmon for 15 minutes to 1 hour.
  • Broil or grill about 4 minutes on each side.

Tips:

  • Choose the right salmon: Look for wild-caught salmon if possible, as it is typically leaner and has a better flavor than farmed salmon.
  • Use fresh herbs and spices: Fresh herbs and spices will give your marinade the most flavor. If you don't have fresh herbs on hand, you can use dried herbs, but use half the amount.
  • Don't over-marinate the salmon: Salmon is a delicate fish, so it doesn't need to be marinated for long. If you marinate it for too long, the acids in the marinade can start to "cook" the fish, making it tough.
  • Use a flavorful oil: The oil in your marinade will help to keep the salmon moist and flavorful. Use a high-quality olive oil, avocado oil, or walnut oil.
  • Let the salmon come to room temperature before cooking: This will help the fish to cook evenly.

Conclusion:

With so many different variations to choose from, you're sure to find a salmon marinade that you love. Whether you prefer a simple marinade with just a few ingredients or a more complex one with a variety of flavors, there's a recipe here that's perfect for you. So next time you're cooking salmon, don't just throw it on the grill or in the oven plain. Give it a try with a marinade, and you'll be amazed at the difference it makes.
