Tips:

  • Use a variety of apples. This will give your pie a more complex flavor and texture. Some good options include Granny Smith, Honeycrisp, and Pink Lady apples.
  • Peel and slice the apples thinly. This will help them cook evenly and prevent them from becoming mushy.
  • Toss the apples with sugar, cinnamon, and nutmeg. This will help them caramelize and develop a delicious flavor.
  • Use a pre-made pie crust or make your own. If you're using a pre-made crust, be sure to thaw it completely before filling it.
  • Brush the edges of the pie crust with egg wash. This will help them brown and seal the pie.
  • Bake the pie at a high temperature for the first 15 minutes. This will help the crust set and prevent it from becoming soggy.
  • Reduce the temperature and continue baking until the filling is bubbling and the crust is golden brown.
  • Let the pie cool for at least 1 hour before serving. This will allow the filling to set and the flavors to develop.
