SHERRY COBBLER

Simply sherry, sugar, and citrus, the Sherry Cobbler is an American-born cocktail by most accounts. Find out how to make this refreshing drink at home.

Yield Makes 1 cocktail

Number Of Ingredients 5

1 lemon wheel
1 orange wheel
¾ oz. simple syrup (1:1 sugar:water)
3 oz. amontillado sherry
Garnish: berries in season, citrus, mint, a Lego minifig-anything, really

Steps:

  • In a mixing glass or cocktail shaker, add the lemon, orange, and simple syrup, and muddle. Add the sherry, fill with ice, and shake. Finely strain into a Collins glass over crushed ice. Top up with additional crushed ice and garnish like there's no tomorrow.

Tips:

  • Choose the right sherry. A good dry sherry will give your cobbler a nice nutty flavor, while a sweet sherry will make it more like a dessert.
  • Use fresh fruit. The best cob proválers are made with fresh, in-season fruit. If you can't find fresh fruit, you can use frozen fruit, but make sure to thaw it before using.
  • Don't overcook the fruit. The fruit should be cooked until it is just soft, but not mushy.
  • Make sure the cobbler is chilled before serving. This will help the flavors to meld together and give the cobbler a chance to set.
  • Serve the cobbler with a dollop of whipped cream or ice cream. This will add a touch of richness and sweetness to the cobbler.

Conclusion:

Sherry cobbler is a classic summer dessert that is easy to make and always a crowd-pleaser. With its combination of sweet, tart, and nutty flavors, it's the perfect way to cool down on a hot day. So next time you're looking for a refreshing and delicious dessert, give sherry cobbler a try.
