Time 15m

Yield 1 bowl, 1 serving(s)

Number Of Ingredients 5

1 tablespoon vegan margarine, like Earth Balance (or regular butter or margarine)
1 apple, cored and diced
1 teaspoon cinnamon
1 tablespoon agave nectar
1/4 cup granola cereal

Steps:

  • Melt butter in a skillet over medium heat. Add apples, sprinkle with cinnamon and stir. Cook until tender 5-8 minutes.
  • Drizzle apples with agave nectar and stir to evenly coat. Cook an additional 1-2 minutes until nice and gooey!
  • Remove from heat, transfer to a bowl and top with granola.

Tips:

  • Use a variety of oats. For a more complex flavor and texture, combine old-fashioned oats, quick-cooking oats, and steel-cut oats.
  • Toast the oats before using them. This will help to bring out their nutty flavor and make them more crispy in the final product.
  • Use a variety of fruits. Apples are a classic choice for apple crisp, but you can also use pears, peaches, berries, or any other fruit that you like.
  • Add a little bit of spice. A pinch of cinnamon, nutmeg, or ginger can help to enhance the flavor of the apple crisp.
  • Don't overcook the crisp. The topping should be golden brown and the fruit should be tender, but not mushy.
  • Serve the apple crisp warm with a scoop of vanilla ice cream or whipped cream.
