Tips

  • Choose the right apples: Use firm, tart apples like Granny Smith or Honeycrisp. These apples hold their shape well when baked and provide a nice contrast to the sweet filling.
  • Peel and slice the apples thinly: This will help them cook evenly and will also create a nice, flaky crust.
  • Don't overcook the apples: You want them to be tender but still have a bit of a bite to them. Overcooked apples will become mushy and lose their flavor.
  • Use a combination of spices: This will give your apple turnover a more complex flavor. Some good options include cinnamon, nutmeg, ginger, and allspice.
  • Don't overfill the turnovers: This will make them difficult to seal and they will be more likely to burst open in the oven.
  • Be patient: Apple turnovers take a little time to make, but they are definitely worth the effort. Enjoy!

Apple turnovers are a delicious and classic dessert that can be enjoyed by people of all ages. They are perfect for a special occasion or for a simple weeknight treat. With just a few simple ingredients and a little bit of time, you can create these delicious pastries that are sure to be a hit with everyone who tries them.
