1 pound lean ground beef
1 ½ cups canned sloppy joe sauce
1 cup shredded Cheddar cheese
2 (8 ounce) cans refrigerated reduced-fat crescent rolls

Steps:

  • Preheat oven to 350 degrees F (175 degrees C). Spray a 9x13-inch baking dish with cooking spray.

Spread the meat and sauce mixture in an even layer over the dough, and sprinkle the Cheddar cheese over the meat mixture. Unroll the second can of rolls, pinch the triangles together to make a single sheet of dough as before, and place the dough over the cheese.
  • Bake the casserole in the preheated oven until the top sheet of dough is golden brown, 15 to 20 minutes.

SLOPPY JOE BAKE (OLD-FASHIONED)

Sloppy Joe Bake (Old-Fashioned) image

This is based on the original Bisquick Sloppy Joe Bake that you could get in the little yellow cookbook they sent out via postal mail. I looked for it but I couldn't find it so I dug out my copy from my personal cookbook. See my other recipe for baking mix if you do not want to use Bisquick.

Time 1h

Yield 6-8 serving(s)

Number Of Ingredients 13

1 lb ground beef
1 cup chopped onion
1 (15 ounce) can tomato sauce
1/2 cup ketchup
2 tablespoons unsalted butter
1/3 cup brown sugar (I use a little more than this, I like it sweet)
1 pinch white sugar
2 teaspoons mustard powder
1 1/2 cups baking mix (Bisquick or make your own)
1 cup milk
2 eggs
2 tablespoons sesame seeds (optional, toasted if desired)
2 teaspoons paprika

Steps:

  • Heat oven to 400°F Caramelize onions in skillet with butter on medium-low until golden and translucent (not brown), adding a pinch of white sugar about halfway through. Remove from heat, pour into ungreased 13x9x2 casserole dish.
  • Add beef to skillet, cook until brown, drain and rinse meat, add to casserole dish and mix well with onions, ketchup, brown sugar, mustard powder, and tomato sauce.
  • In a medium bowl, stir baking mix, milk and eggs with fork until just blended (do not over mix). See my other recipe for baking mix if you don't want to use Bisquick.
  • Carefully pour topping over beef -- VERY SLOWLY -- so it stays on top. Sprinkle with sesame seeds and paprika for garnish.
  • Bake 20-25 minutes or until light golden brown. Cut into squares and serve. Freezes and reheats beautifully.

MANWICH SLOPPY JOE CORNBREAD BAKE

Manwich Sloppy Joe Cornbread Bake image

Have not tried but plan on doing so

Provided by Angela Lawless

Categories     Beef

Time 30m

Number Of Ingredients 7

pam original spray
1 lb gound beef
1 can(s) 15oz manawich sauce
1 pkg 8.5oz corn muffin mix
1/3 c fat free milk
1/3 c fleischmann's original spread tube, melted
1/4 c egg beaters original

Steps:

  • 1. Spray 8" square dish with Pam. Cook and stir beef in skillet for 7 minutes or until done. Drain, add Manwich heat until hot. Spoon into dish.
  • 2. Stir together muffin mix, milk, Fleischmann's and Egg Beaters in bowl. Spoon over beef mixture, Bake at 400F for 15 minutes or until set.

Tips:

  • Use a variety of ground meats. Ground beef is the classic choice for sloppy joes, but you can also use ground turkey, chicken, or pork. If you're using a leaner meat, like turkey or chicken, add some extra fat, such as olive oil or butter, to the pan before browning the meat.
  • Don't overcook the meat. Sloppy joes are best when the meat is cooked through but still juicy. Overcooked meat will be tough and dry.
  • Use a flavorful sauce. The sauce is what makes sloppy joes so delicious. Use a sauce that has a good balance of sweet, sour, and savory flavors. You can use a store-bought sauce or make your own.
  • Add some vegetables. Vegetables add flavor, texture, and nutrients to sloppy joes. Some good choices include onions, peppers, mushrooms, and corn.
  • Serve sloppy joes on your favorite bread. Sloppy joes can be served on hamburger buns, hot dog buns, or even sliced bread. Choose a bread that is sturdy enough to hold up to the sloppy sauce.
  • Top sloppy joes with your favorite toppings. Some popular toppings include cheese, lettuce, tomato, and pickles. You can also add a dollop of sour cream or guacamole.

Conclusion:

Sloppy joes are a delicious and easy-to-make meal that can be enjoyed by people of all ages. With a variety of possible ingredients and toppings, there are endless possibilities for creating your own unique sloppy joe recipe. So next time you're looking for a quick and easy meal, give sloppy joes a try. You won't be disappointed!
