Time 3h15m

Yield 12

Number Of Ingredients 11

1 (28 ounce) can chunky tomato sauce
⅓ cup brown sugar
2 tablespoons red wine vinegar
1 tablespoon chili powder
1 tablespoon soy sauce
2 teaspoons ground cumin
1 teaspoon paprika
1 teaspoon garlic powder
½ teaspoon salt
1 pinch cayenne pepper
6 pounds pork spareribs, cut into serving-size pieces

Steps:

  • Stir tomato sauce, brown sugar, red wine vinegar, chili powder, soy sauce, cumin, paprika, garlic powder, salt, and cayenne pepper together in bowl. Place sparerib pieces into a slow cooker and pour sauce over ribs. Cook on High for 3 to 4 hours or on Low for 6 to 8 hours.

Tips:

  • Choose the right ribs: Baby back ribs are more tender and flavorful, while spare ribs are meatier and have more collagen. Both are suitable for slow cooking.
  • Trim the ribs: Remove any excess fat or membrane from the ribs before cooking. This will help the rub adhere better and allow the ribs to cook more evenly.
  • Make a flavorful rub: The rub is what gives the ribs their flavor, so don't skimp on it. Use a combination of spices and herbs that you like. Some popular options include garlic powder, onion powder, paprika, cumin, chili powder, and brown sugar.
  • Rub the ribs thoroughly: Make sure to rub the ribs all over with the spice mixture, getting into all the nooks and crannies. This will help ensure that the ribs are evenly flavored.
  • Cook the ribs low and slow: Slow cooking is the best way to achieve fall-off-the-bone ribs. Cook the ribs on low heat for 6-8 hours, or until the meat is tender and easily pulls away from the bone.
  • Baste the ribs during cooking: Basting the ribs with a mixture of barbecue sauce, water, and vinegar will help keep them moist and flavorful. Baste the ribs every hour or so during cooking.
  • Let the ribs rest before serving: Once the ribs are cooked, let them rest for 10-15 minutes before serving. This will allow the juices to redistribute throughout the meat, making them even more tender and flavorful.

Conclusion:

Slow cooker barbecued ribs are a delicious and easy-to-make meal. By following these tips, you can ensure that your ribs turn out perfect every time. So fire up your slow cooker and enjoy a rack of fall-off-the-bone ribs tonight!
