Steps:
- 1. Preheat oven to 350. Spray your 13x9 dish and set aside. Cake-cream the butter and granulated sugar until fluffy. Add the eggs, one at a time, mixing well after each addition. In a medium bowl sift the flour, salt, and baking soda together.
- 2. Alternately add flour mixture and sour cream to the batter and blend. Stir in vanilla. Pour the batter into the prepared 13x9 and bake 45 minutes or until cake tests done in center. Remove from oven and let cool.
- 3. Make the icing-In a large saucepan, combine the butter, brown sugar and milk. Cook over low heat until butter melts. Increase the heat to medium and cook 2 minutes longer. Remove from heat and stir in vanilla. Slowly add your powdered sugar mix well and frost the cooled cake.
Tips:
- For a smooth caramel sauce, make sure to stir the sugar constantly while it is melting. If the sugar starts to crystallize, add a few drops of water and stir until the sugar dissolves again.
- To prevent the cake from sticking to the pan, grease the pan thoroughly with butter or cooking spray. You can also line the pan with parchment paper.
- For a moist and fluffy cake, make sure to beat the eggs and sugar together until they are light and fluffy. This will incorporate air into the batter and help the cake to rise.
- Do not overmix the batter. Overmixing can result in a tough, dense cake.
- Bake the cake until a toothpick inserted into the center comes out clean. If the toothpick comes out with batter or crumbs attached, the cake needs to bake longer.
- Let the cake cool completely before inverting it onto a serving plate. This will help to prevent the cake from breaking.
- Serve the cake with your favorite toppings, such as whipped cream, ice cream, or fresh fruit.
Conclusion:
Sour cream caramel cake is a delicious and easy-to-make dessert that is perfect for any occasion. With its moist and fluffy cake base, creamy caramel sauce, and rich sour cream topping, this cake is sure to please everyone. Be sure to follow the tips above to ensure that your cake turns out perfect. Enjoy!
