Time 4h10m

Yield 8 serving(s)

Number Of Ingredients 7

1 boneless pork shoulder (about 4 lbs)
1 tablespoon dry mustard
1/2 cup soy sauce
1 teaspoon ginger
1/2 cup dry sherry
1 teaspoon thyme
2 garlic cloves, minced

Steps:

  • Place pork shoulder roast in a clear plastic bag; set in a deep bowl.
  • Thoroughly blend together the soy sauce, dry sherry, minced garlic, dry mustard, ginger and thyme.
  • Pour marinade over meat in bag; close.
  • Place the roast in the refrigerator and marinate for 2 or 3 hours or overnight.
  • Transfer the pork roast and marinade to a crockpot.
  • Cover and cook on HIGH for 3 1/2 to 4 hours.

Tips:

  • Choose a pork shoulder or butt roast with a good amount of marbling for a flavorful and juicy roast.
  • Enhance the flavor of the roast by creating a flavorful marinade or rub using a combination of spices, herbs, and citrus. Allow the roast to marinate for at least 4 hours, or overnight for best results.
  • Sear the roast on all sides before slow-cooking to create a delicious crust and lock in the juices.
  • Use a Dutch oven or slow cooker to cook the pork roast for tender and fall-apart meat. Add some liquid, such as broth, water, or even beer, to keep the roast moist during cooking.
  • Add vegetables, such as onions, carrots, celery, and potatoes, to the pot with the roast for a complete and hearty meal.
  • Cook the pork roast on low heat for a long period of time, typically 8-10 hours, to ensure that it is fall-off-the-bone tender.
  • Let the roast rest for at least 15 minutes before slicing and serving to allow the juices to redistribute.

Conclusion:

In conclusion, creating a delicious and succulent South Pacific Pork Roast involves selecting a flavorful pork cut, marinating or rubbing it with a blend of spices and herbs, and slow-cooking it in a liquid-filled pot. The low and slow cooking method allows the pork to become incredibly tender and juicy, while the addition of vegetables and a flavorful marinade or rub enhances its taste and complexity. Serve the roast with accompaniments such as roasted vegetables, mashed potatoes, or rice for a complete and satisfying meal. Experiment with different marinades, rubs, and cooking techniques to find the perfect combination of flavors and textures that suits your taste preferences.
