Tips

  • Select Fresh Green Beans: Choose tender and young green beans with vibrant green color and no signs of wilting or blemishes.
  • Blanch the Green Beans: Blanching helps preserve the bright green color and crisp texture of the beans. Bring a large pot of salted water to a boil, add the beans, and cook for 2-3 minutes or until tender-crisp. Immediately transfer the beans to an ice bath to stop the cooking process.
  • Sauté Aromatics: Before adding the green beans, sauté aromatics like onions, garlic, and bacon to create a flavorful base for the dish.
  • Use High-Quality Apricots: Opt for plump and juicy dried apricots. If using fresh apricots, ensure they are ripe and sweet.
  • Add a Touch of Sweetness: A small amount of brown sugar or honey can enhance the natural sweetness of the apricots and balance the flavors in the dish.
  • Season to Taste: Adjust the seasonings, including salt, pepper, and herbs, to your preference. Taste the dish as you cook and make necessary adjustments.
