Steps:
- Cook the bacon in a large, deep skillet over medium-high heat until evenly browned, about 10 minutes. Reserving the drippings in the pan, remove the bacon to a paper towel-lined plate to drain.
- Stir the butter and flour into the bacon drippings. Scrape the browned bits of food off of the bottom of the pan with a wooden spoon; cook and stir together until beginning to thicken, about 3 minutes. Stir the tomatoes into the mixture, using the spoon to break the tomatoes into small pieces while cooking; season with salt and pepper. Add the cream cheese and heavy cream; reduce heat to medium-low and simmer, stirring frequently, until hot and thick, about 10 minutes.

OLD-FASHIONED TOMATO GRAVY
My mother-in-law gave me this tomato gravy recipe. It's her very favorite breakfast. We-my husband, our two sons and I-also enjoy it for a light supper. Especially on a cold day, it's great with warm peach cobbler or bread pudding. -Laurie Fisher, Greeley, Colorado

SOUTHERN TOMATO GRAVY
This is such a Southern dish served over biscuits for breakfast, rice for supper or mashed potatoes. I like it with pasta and I use leftover gravy in hamburger dishes. A great way to use up all those tomatoes from the garden.

Tips:
- Choose the right tomatoes: Use ripe, flavorful tomatoes for the best flavor. Roma tomatoes are a good option because they have fewer seeds and are less juicy than other varieties.
- Don't skimp on the garlic and onion: These aromatics add a lot of flavor to the gravy. Use fresh, minced garlic and onion for the best results.
- Cook the gravy low and slow: This allows the flavors to meld and develop. Simmer the gravy for at least 30 minutes, or longer if you have time.
- Season the gravy to taste: Add salt, pepper, and other seasonings to taste. You may also want to add a pinch of sugar to balance out the acidity of the tomatoes.
- Serve the gravy over your favorite dishes: Southern-style tomato gravy is delicious over biscuits, grits, eggs, chicken, and other dishes.
Conclusion:
Southern-style tomato gravy is a versatile and delicious dish that can be enjoyed for breakfast, lunch, or dinner. It's easy to make and can be tailored to your own taste preferences. Whether you like it spicy, tangy, or mild, there's a Southern-style tomato gravy recipe out there for you.
