Tips:

  • Choose fresh, plump cranberries. Avoid any that are bruised or have soft spots.
  • Use a sharp knife to score the cranberries. This will help the syrup penetrate the berries and give them a more intense flavor.
  • Don't overcook the cranberries. They should be cooked until they are just beginning to burst, about 5 minutes.
  • Use a good quality bourbon. A good bourbon will add a rich, smoky flavor to the pecans.
  • Toast the pecans before using them. This will bring out their flavor and make them more crunchy.
  • Don't overcrowd the pecans in the pan when you are toasting them. This will prevent them from cooking evenly.
  • Let the pecans cool completely before adding them to the cranberries. This will help prevent the pecans from becoming soggy.
  • Store the spicy pecans and cranberries in a tightly sealed container in the refrigerator for up to 2 weeks.

Conclusion:

Spicy pecans and cranberries are a delicious and versatile snack or side dish. They are perfect for parties, potlucks, or holiday gatherings. They are also a great way to use up leftover cranberries after Thanksgiving or Christmas. With just a few simple ingredients, you can make this tasty treat that is sure to please everyone.
