Tips:

  • Use high-quality steak for the best results. Look for steaks that are well-marbled with a good amount of fat.
  • Season the steaks generously with salt and pepper before cooking. This will help to enhance the flavor of the meat.
  • Cook the steaks over medium-high heat to get a good sear on the outside while keeping the inside juicy.
  • Let the steaks rest for a few minutes before slicing and serving. This will allow the juices to redistribute throughout the meat, resulting in a more tender and flavorful steak.
  • For the French onion sauce, use a variety of onions for a more complex flavor. Yellow onions, white onions, and shallots all work well.
  • Caramelize the onions slowly over low heat. This will bring out their sweetness and make them more flavorful.
  • Use a good quality beef broth for the sauce. This will help to give the sauce a rich and flavorful taste.
  • Add a splash of red wine to the sauce for a deeper flavor.
  • Season the sauce to taste with salt, pepper, and herbs such as thyme and rosemary.
