Yield 6

Number Of Ingredients 4

5 slices bacon
½ cup slivered almonds
1 (16 ounce) package frozen cut green beans
¼ cup butter

  • Place bacon in a large skillet over medium-high heat. Cook until browned on one side, then turn over to cook on the other side. Add the almonds to the skillet at this time, and cook, stirring until light golden brown.
  • Remove the bacon from the skillet, leaving the bacon drippings. Crumble or chop bacon, and return to the skillet. Melt the butter in with the drippings. Add the green beans; cook and stir until tender, about 8 minutes.

Tips:

  • Choose fresh, tender green beans. Look for beans that are bright green in color and snap easily when you bend them. Avoid beans that are wilted, bruised, or have brown spots.
  • Trim the green beans. Cut off the ends of the beans, where the stem was attached. You can also remove the strings from the beans, if desired. To do this, hold the bean at one end and pull the string down the side of the bean with your other hand.
  • Steam the green beans until they are tender-crisp. This will take about 5-7 minutes. You can steam the beans in a steamer basket over a pot of boiling water, or you can use a microwave steamer.
  • Sauté the almonds until they are golden brown. This will take about 2-3 minutes. Be careful not to overcook the almonds, or they will become bitter.
  • Add the green beans, almonds, and parsley to a bowl and toss to combine. Season with salt and pepper to taste.
  • Serve the green beans immediately. They can be served as a side dish or a main course.

Conclusion:

Steamed sautéed green beans with almonds and parsley is a delicious and healthy side dish that can be enjoyed by people of all ages. The green beans are tender-crisp and flavorful, the almonds add a nutty crunch, and the parsley adds a fresh, herbaceous flavor. This dish is also very easy to make, and it can be ready in just 15 minutes. So next time you're looking for a quick and easy side dish, give steamed sautéed green beans with almonds and parsley a try.
