STRAWBERRY BROWNIES

Strawberry Brownies image

These brownies are light and crumbly, with a punch of strawberry flavor. I made them one night with my boyfriend's daughter trying to teach her that there are no limits on what can be used when baking and cooking. I decided to use the fresh strawberries I had just purchased. I wouldn't suggest using frozen strawberries but if you do, defrost and drain well.

Time 1h

Yield 10

Number Of Ingredients 7

1 egg
1 cup melted butter, cooled
1 tablespoon vanilla extract
1 pound sliced fresh strawberries, divided
1 cup sugar
½ cup cocoa powder
1 ½ cups cake flour, more as needed

Steps:

  • Preheat oven to 350 degrees F (175 degrees C). Lightly grease a 9 inch pie plate.
  • Whisk together egg, melted butter, and vanilla in a large bowl. Puree about 1/4 cup of the sliced strawberries and whisk into the butter. Sift together the sugar, cocoa powder, and cake flour. Fold into the butter, and mix until well incorporated. Use more flour if needed to end up with a mixture in between a cake batter and a cookie dough (the strawberries will add additional moisture). Gently fold in the remaining sliced strawberries and pour the batter into prepared pie plate.
  • Bake in preheated oven until a toothpick inserted into the center comes out clean, 30 to 40 minutes.

Time 1h30m

Yield 8 servings

Number Of Ingredients 11

1 cup hazelnuts, lightly toasted
1/2 cup plus 1 tablespoon unsweetened cocoa powder
1/2 teaspoon kosher salt
1 1/2 cups sugar, divided
1/2 pound (2 sticks) unsalted butter
1 cup bittersweet chocolate chips
3 large eggs
1 tablespoon instant coffee dissolved in 1 tablespoon of hot water
1 1/2 pints raspberries
Powdered sugar, for garnish, as needed
Vanilla bean ice cream, for serving

Steps:

  • Pre-heat the oven to 325 degrees F. Spray a fluted 9-inch tart pan with removable bottom with non-stick cooking spray.
  • In a food processor add hazelnuts, unsweetened cocoa powder, salt and 1/4 cup of sugar and pulse until finely ground. Set aside.
  • In a medium saucepan, melt unsalted butter over medium heat, then cook swirling the pan occasionally, until nutty-smelling and deep golden in color, about 5 minutes. Remove from heat and add the bittersweet chocolate chips. Let stand until melted, about 2 minutes. Whisk the butter and chocolate until smooth, scraping up any browned butter solids from the bottom of the pan. Let cool slightly.
  • In a mixing bowl fitted with the whisk attachment, beat the eggs with the remaining 1 1/4 cups of sugar and coffee mixture on medium speed, about 5 minutes. With mixer on low, add the chocolate-butter mixture, followed by the cocoa-hazelnut mixture. With a spatula scrape batter into prepared pan and bake for about 35 minutes, or until the top is glossy and a toothpick inserted in the center comes out with a few moist crumbs. Let cool until slightly warm.
  • Remove the outer ring from the tart pan. In the center of the tart, place the raspberries in a circle or in the shape of a heart. Garnish with sifted powdered sugar. Serve with ice cream.

Time 1h

Yield 12 serving(s)

Number Of Ingredients 9

1 (21 1/2 ounce) package Pillsbury Fudge Brownie Mix
1/2 cup water

1 egg
1 (8 ounce) package cream cheese, softened
1 1/2 cups milk
1 (3 1/2 ounce) package vanilla instant pudding mix

Tips:

  • Choose ripe, juicy strawberries: The quality of your strawberries will greatly impact the flavor of your tart. Look for bright red, plump berries that are free of bruises or blemishes.
  • Use high-quality chocolate: A good chocolate brownie base will make all the difference. Look for a chocolate with a cocoa content of at least 70%. You can use either semisweet or bittersweet chocolate, depending on your preference.
  • Don't overmix the batter: Overmixing the brownie batter will make it tough. Mix just until the ingredients are combined.
  • Bake the brownies until they are just set: Overbaking the brownies will make them dry. Bake them until a toothpick inserted into the center comes out with just a few moist crumbs attached.
  • Let the brownies cool completely before assembling the tart: This will help to prevent the brownies from breaking apart.
  • Use a variety of toppings: In addition to strawberries, you can top your tart with other fruits, such as raspberries, blueberries, or blackberries. You can also add whipped cream, ice cream, or a drizzle of chocolate sauce.

Conclusion:

This strawberry brownie tart is a delicious and easy-to-make dessert that is perfect for any occasion. The combination of chocolate and strawberries is always a winner, and the tart crust adds a nice touch of crunch. With just a few simple ingredients, you can create a stunning dessert that will impress your friends and family.
