Time 35m

Number Of Ingredients 14

Handheld electric mixer (optional but helpful)
1/3 cup (76g) salted butter (softened)
1/3 cup + 1 tablespoon (80g) granulated sugar
1 large egg yolk
1/2 teaspoon vanilla extract (or 1/8 teaspoon almond extract)
3/4 cup + 1 tablespoon (98g) all-purpose flour
1/4 teaspoon baking soda
1/8 teaspoon salt
1/3 cup powdered sugar, granulated sugar or sprinkles (for rolling (optional))
1 cup (120g) powdered sugar (sifted)
1 tablespoon milk (+ more to reach desired consistency)
1/4 teaspoon vanilla extract
2 teaspoons light corn syrup (*)
2 to 4 teaspoons food coloring (optional)

Steps:

  • Preheat your oven to 350°F and a line baking sheet with parchment paper or silicone baking mat.
  • In a medium bowl, cream together butter and sugar until light and fluffy.
  • Add egg yolk and vanilla (or almond extract) and beat until well-combined.
  • Add flour, baking soda, and salt, and mix until there is no dry flour left at the bottom of the bowl and the dough begins to clump.
  • Divide dough into six parts and roll into balls. If rolling in sprinkles or sugar, do so now.
  • Place dough on the prepared cookie sheet, well-spaced, and use the palm of your hand to press cookies out to 1/2-inch thick (no thinner).
  • Bake for 9 to 12 minutes, until you see just a hint of golden color around the bottom edges of the cookies. Cool completely on the cookie sheet.
  • Once cookies are cooled, in a medium bowl, combine powdered sugar, milk, and vanilla. Stir until well-combined.
  • Add corn syrup and stir until smooth. Add about 2 to 4 drops of food coloring if desired and stir until uniform in color. Add more milk if necessary to get a drizzling consistency.
  • Spoon over cookies and allow 10 to 15 minutes for the glaze to set. Enjoy!

STUPID SIMPLE SUGAR COOKIES

Stupid Simple Sugar Cookies image

This is a slight variation on another sugar cookie recipe I got out of a magazine. The original recipe called for more flour than I used because that recipe was for roll out cookies, this recipe makes drop cookies. If you want to make roll out cookies, use 2 cups flour instead of 1 1/4 cup. For a different flavor (besides vanilla), try using almond or butter extract (same amount).

Provided by Raincloud_specialty

Categories     Drop Cookies

Time 30m

Yield 12-15 cookies, 12-15 serving(s)

Number Of Ingredients 6

1/2 cup butter
1 cup sugar
1 egg
1 teaspoon baking powder
1 teaspoon vanilla extract
1 1/4 cups flour

Steps:

  • Preheat oven to 350 degrees Fahrenheit.
  • Cream butter and sugar in bowl until fluffy.
  • Add egg and mix until well blended.
  • Mix in baking powder and extract.
  • Add flour by 1/4 cup at a time. This makes mixing a lot easier, and is better if working with children. If batter is slightly too thin, add flour by teaspoonfuls until desired texture is attained.
  • Drop cookies onto baking sheet by tablespoonfuls. These tend to spread out a lot, so it may be best to only put 6-8 on each baking sheet.
  • Bake for 14-17 minutes or until lightly golden around the edges.

Time 4h

Yield 20

Number Of Ingredients 8

1 cup butter, softened
1/2 cup granulated sugar
2 1/4 cups Gold Medal™ all-purpose flour
4 tablespoons holiday-colored nonpareils or coarse decorating sugar, if desired
1/2 cup powdered sugar
2 to 3 teaspoons milk
Betty Crocker™ gel food colors, if desired
Holiday-colored nonpareils or coarse decorating sugar, if desired

Steps:

  • In large bowl, beat softened butter and granulated sugar with spoon until well mixed. Stir in flour until moistened, using hands to mix if needed (dough will be crumbly). Knead 5 to 10 times or until dough is smooth.
  • Divide dough in half; shape each half into a log, 5 inches long by 2 inches in diameter.
  • Spread 2 tablespoons of the nonpareils or decorating sugar on plastic wrap; roll one log in nonpareils to cover. Repeat to cover remaining cookie log in nonpareils. Wrap dough logs tightly with plastic wrap. Refrigerate about 1 hour 30 minutes or until firm.
  • Heat oven to 350°F. Unwrap 1 of the dough logs; cut into 1/2-inch slices. On ungreased cookie sheet, place slices 2 inches apart, reshaping if necessary.
  • Bake 12 to 14 minutes or until edges are set. Cool 2 minutes; remove from cookie sheet to cooling rack. Unwrap remaining dough log, and repeat slicing and baking. Cool completely, about 40 minutes.
  • To make Powdered Sugar Icing Drizzle: In small bowl, mix powdered sugar and 2 teaspoons of the milk until well blended. If too thick to drizzle, add additional milk, 1/4 teaspoon at a time. Tint with food color. Drizzle over tops of cooled cookies. Sprinkle with nonpareils or decorating sugar. Let stand about 1 hour or until drizzle is set.

I was never a huge sugar cookie fan until I went to a local bakery and bit into one of their frosted sugar cookies. It had a fudgy texture that complimented the harder frosting and sprinkles on top. STUPID EASY TRIM HEALTHY MAMA CHOCOLATE CHIP COOKIES RECIPE - (3.9/5)

Stupid Easy Trim Healthy Mama Chocolate Chip Cookies Recipe - (3.9/5) image

Provided by paulmartinjr

Number Of Ingredients 7

1/2 cup softened salted butter
1/3 cup Gentle Sweet, DIY Gentle Sweet (my pick), or low-carb sweetener of choice
2 large eggs
1 tablespoon vanilla extract
2 cups blanched almond flour
1/2 teaspoon baking soda
2/3 cup sugar-free chocolate chips

Steps:

  • Preheat oven to 350ºF and spray two baking sheets with coconut oil baking spray. Set aside. Using a stand mixer, beat together butter and sweetener. Add eggs one at a time, beating for one minute and scraping the bowl after each addition. Beat in vanilla extract. Add almond flour and baking soda and mix until thoroughly combined. Fold in chocolate chips with a spatula. Use a tablespoon-size cookie scoop to portion out 18 cookies, dividing them between the two prepared pans. It's alright if they're fairly close together because they won't spread much. Bake cookies for 7 minutes, then rotate pans top to bottom and front to back and bake for 7 minutes more. Cool on pans for five minutes, then transfer cookies to a wire rack and cool completely. Store cookies in an airtight container at room temperature for up to three days or in the freezer for up to two months.

Tips:

  • Use room temperature butter: This will help the cookies spread properly and give them a more tender texture.
  • Chill the dough before baking: This will help the cookies hold their shape and prevent them from spreading too much.
  • Don't overmix the dough: Overmixing can make the cookies tough.
  • Bake the cookies until the edges are just starting to brown: Overbaking will make the cookies dry and crumbly.
  • Let the cookies cool completely before frosting: This will help the frosting set properly.

Conclusion:

Sugar cookies are a classic holiday treat that are easy to make and loved by people of all ages. With just a few simple ingredients, you can create delicious sugar cookies that are perfect for any occasion. Whether you're a beginner baker or a seasoned pro, these tips will help you make the best sugar cookies you've ever tasted. So what are you waiting for? Get baking!
