ABSOLUTELY SUGAR FREE FROSTING

Absolutely Sugar Free Frosting image

This is so simple and so good, not just as frosting either!! I am a recently diagnosed diabetic with a gigantic sweet tooth, so I am always looking for goodies. I was sitting around bored and craving something sweet one day and this is what happened. This is pretty low in carbs too-- which is great for diabetics as well as low carb dieters. But beware, it is NOT low in fat!! This recipe makes a bunch, but I am pretty sure it can be reduced by parts. The serving number is a guess-- it depends on what you use this for.

SUGAR FREE CAKE FROSTING

Sugar Free Cake Frosting image

I love this! Fast, easy, simple. It is not overly sweet or heavy like most cake frostings. My co-worker asks for a bowl of just this frosting for her birthday. She dips vanilla wafers or Oreo cookies into it.

Time 5m

Yield 1 cake worth, 10 serving(s)

Number Of Ingredients 3

1 (8 ounce) box sugar-free instant pudding mix
1 (12 ounce) container frozen whipped topping, thawed
2 tablespoons milk

Steps:

  • Pick your favorite flavor of sugar free instant pudding mix.
  • YOU MUST DO THIS! Take 2 tablespoons of milk and dissolve the pudding mix into it before adding the Cool Whip by folding it in gently. (This will get rid of any graininess). WARNING! If you over mix this, the frosting will become grainy or sticky!
  • Fold into the thawed whip topping.
  • Spread on cake or dip cookies, fruit or spoon now and eat!
  • Keep leftovers refrigerated.
  • My aunt has added drained pineapple or mandarin oranges and coconut into the frosting after step 2 (they are folded into the Cool Whip with the pudding/milk mixture).

Tips:

  • Use ripe bananas: The riper the bananas, the sweeter they will be and the less sweetener you will need. This will result in a more natural, less processed taste.
  • Chill your ingredients: Chilling your ingredients, especially the heavy cream, will help the frosting thicken up faster and achieve a lighter, fluffier texture.
  • Whip slowly: When whipping the cream, start on low speed and gradually increase the speed to medium-high. Whipping too quickly can cause the cream to curdle.
  • Add sweetener gradually: Taste the frosting as you add sweetener, and stop adding it when the frosting reaches your desired sweetness. This will help you avoid over-sweetening the frosting.
  • Use a variety of extracts: Extracts can add a lot of flavor to sugar-free frosting. Try using vanilla, almond, coconut, or other extracts to create different flavor variations.
  • Garnish with fresh fruit or nuts: Garnish your sugar-free cake with fresh fruit or nuts to add sweetness, texture, and flavor.

Conclusion:

Sugar-free frosting can be just as delicious and satisfying as traditional frosting, without all the added sugar. By following these tips, you can make a sugar-free frosting that is light, fluffy, and full of flavor. Whether you are looking for a healthier option or simply want to reduce your sugar intake, sugar-free frosting is a great choice. Experiment with different recipes and find one that you love.
