PUMPKIN CUSTARD

Pumpkin Custard image

This is not a particularly sweet dessert, but it is creamy. The recipe calls for cream, but I use half-and-half. Much of the creaminess comes from the pumpkin puree. This is great with coffee, but better with a nice port. Serve with a dollop of whipped cream.

Tips:

  • Choose the right pumpkin: For the best flavor and texture, choose a sugar pumpkin or pie pumpkin. These pumpkins are smaller and sweeter than other varieties.
  • Roast the pumpkin: Roasting the pumpkin intensifies its flavor and makes it easier to blend. You can roast the pumpkin in the oven or in a toaster oven.
  • Use a high-powered blender: A high-powered blender will help you get a smooth and creamy custard. If you don't have a high-powered blender, you can use a regular blender, but you may need to blend the custard for longer.
  • Chill the custard before serving: Chilling the custard allows it to set and thicken. You can chill the custard for at least 4 hours or overnight.
  • Garnish with your favorite toppings: You can garnish the custard with whipped cream, pumpkin pie spice, or cinnamon.

Conclusion:

Sugar-free pumpkin custard is a delicious and healthy dessert that is perfect for fall. It is a great way to use up leftover pumpkin puree, and it is also a good source of vitamins and minerals. With just a few simple ingredients, you can make a delicious sugar-free pumpkin custard that the whole family will enjoy.
